Suns -7.5
Many things have happened in recent days to affect this game. First there was an on court brawl last Saturday in Knicks-Nuggets game, which resulted to long suspensions for both teams. Carmelo Anthony was suspended for 15 games, J.R. Smith for 10 games and Nene for 1 game. Secondly long waited trade of Allen Iverson was finally made. The Nuggets got Iverson for Andre Miller and Joe Smith (+ two first round picks).
Nene will play today as he has served his 1 game suspension and his help is much needed, as the Nuggets are awfully short-handed. Anthony and J.R. Smith are out with suspensions, Andre Miller and Joe Smith are traded and reports say that Allen Iverson will make his debut on Friday. There is still a slight chance that Iverson will play today, but even if that miracle happens expect him to struggle to find his place in offensive sets (and Karl to use him limited minutes). So all in all the Nuggets are 4 players short from their normal lineup and 3 of those 4 are starters.
The Suns are rolling – they now have their winning streak up to 15 games. As we have said earlier, if you want to beat the Suns you have to match their scoring abilities. That means at least 3-4 players who can shoot and score with high percentage. Obviously that is the one thing the Nuggets don’t have right now. Phoenix played yesterday and had an easy game with starters resting in the final quarter. They are usually team with a strong fatigue, so we expect them to be OK tonight.
We have a clear favourite here. Team that has a 15 games winning streak and really looks unbeatable right now meets a team that has 4 players out from their usual lineup. Phoenix scoring machine will not be denied tonight and we see this game as a blowout. High stakes!
