Game: New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears Game Time: 1/21/2007 3:00:00 PM Prediction: Chicago Bears Reason: The last four NFC Championship games have been decided by double-digits and by an average of more than 16 points. Looking back further shows that every NFC Championship this millennium has been decided by a minimum of five points and that 15 straight games were decided by at least a field goal. In fact, 70 of 72 Championship games (AFC and NFC) have been decided by a minimum of a field goal! Armed with that knowledge, I'm not going to let the small number concern me. The Saints have been a great story and they should be proud of their success. All good things must come to an end though and I expect their season to finish on Sunday afternoon. While last week's home win over the Eagles was relatively impressive, note that New Orleans remains a poor 4-12 its last 16 games against teams with winning records. The Bears have won 13 of their last 16 games on this field. Those 13 victories came by an average of greater than 16 points a piece and every single one of them was by a minimum of a field goal. They are also 15-1 their last 16 games against teams from the NFC with the lone loss coming in a 'meaningless' game. Look for them to continue their conference dominance this afternoon, covering the small number along the way.
