Today is a good day for Illinois Basketball as they
received a signed National Letter of Intent from
shooting guard Quinton Watkins.
Watkins hails from Dominquez High School
in Compton CA, He is considered the 2nd best player
in California as a High school player. Originally committed
verbally to USC but backed out after OJ Mayo was
announced.
6-3 185lb Good Athlete, Explosive Leaper, and a
Great defender, this kid refuses to back down, very
smart player, sounds like a leader Illinois needs
This is only the third recruit ever to sign with Illinois
from California and could open a whole new pipeline for Illinois
recruiting.
To those that think that Bruce Weber cant Recruit
well the Carpet thinks they are crazy....... But I can tell
one other thing about Coach Weber and recruiting, he only
plays the game when the kids are open, he does not recruit
if a verbal has been given by a player, hence this deal
Not like the snake that now coaches Indiana.
The Illini have a solid recruiting class coming in
2 bigs guys 7 footers and another special guard
demerty which will help the coach build his team
