  • 2007 AFC Football Preview- Jeff

Jeff/Administrator, Reference your 2007 AFC Football Preview, August 13, on the home page. I enjoyed the article but there is no mention of the Baltimore Ravens as one of the top teams. Was this an omission or do you think the Ravens are NOT a contender?

    This was an oversight.

The objective was to cover potential contenders and not every team in the league. In our haste to finish the article, we goofed and left out the Ravens.

Of course any list of potential contenders should include a 13-3 team from a year ago.

This is a veteran team so it's now or never for the Ravens. But that could be a negative as well. They didn't do much in the off season so it's pretty much the same team. (they got rid of Lewis and brought in McHahee).

They seemed spent by the time they faced the Colts in the playoffs, so what's to keep that from happening again?

I don't see 13 wins for the Ravens this year. It's going to be tough for a veteran team like this to stay healthy.

The first half of their schedule looks to be much easier. They'll need a good showing the first half of the year if they are going to have a shot.

The 2nd half of the year has dates with the Bengals, Chargers, Pats, Colts, Seattle and Pitt.....if they aren't healthy, forget about it.

So, they better get some W's against the Cards, Browns, 49ers, Rams and Bills early on. No guarantee there.

I think 9-7 would be an accomplishment.

    Thoughts?

    Good Luck!

      Baltimore season wins O/U = 9.5

I lean to the Over, based mostly on their schedule. They only play 5 games vs playoff teams from last year. They don't look like a Super team to me, but I think they'll make the playoffs with 10+ wins.

I predict a 10 win season due to a much more difficult schedule. Their D continues to be one of the best but offensive line lacks depth and experience. If the aging Ogden goes down they are in trouble.
