  • Dragon1952 - CFB Thursday -Saturday Week 3

    Week 1 - 5-3
    Week2 - 3-5
    Week 2 Recap
Virginia Tech +13 @ LSU - LOST LSU dominated start to finish. Wow! I think LSU is the best team in the country...not USC.
Iowa -21.5 vs Syracuse - WON Iowa 35-0. Syracuse is a very poor team obviously and have now lost both games by a combined 65 pts!
Hawaii -28 @ Louisiana Tech - LOST Hawaii squeaked out the win in OT. Poor effort by their defense and 2 of their TO's led to easy scores for L.T. Over 500 yds passing for Hawaii!
TCU +9.5 @ Texas - LOST Texas defense throttled TCU in only giving up 6 offensive pts. TCU led 10-0 at HT thanks to an INT returned for a TD and a good defensive effort. But 2 TCU 2nd half TO's led to an easy 14 pts for Texas which pretty much killed the cover.
Penn St. -17.5 vs Notre Dame - WON Penn State held ND to 0 rushing yds and only 144 total yds in a 31-10 win.
Boise St -2.5 @ Washington - LOST - Boise St led in total yds (388-342) and FD's (21-16) but 4 TO's and 9 penalties took too much steam out of the Broncos and led to easy pts for the Huskies.
Virginia -17 vs Duke - LOST Virginia pretty much dominated but could only manage an 11 pt win.
    West Virginia -24 @ Marshall - WON - After a sluggish 1st H, W.V. came up with 42 2nd H pts to barely cover.

    Week 3 picks coming up.

West Virginia -16 @ Maryland - The Mountaineers are 2-0 ATS so far after a 62-24 pasting of W. Michigan followed by a 48-23 thrashing of Marshall. This team is never out of it ATS as evidenced last week where 42 2nd half pts assured the cover. This team can score in bunches. This -16 spread is reasonable against a Maryland team that is very mediocre offensively and gave up a whopping 162 yds rushing per game last year (340 to W.V.)and has lost 3 of their top 4 tacklers since then. West Virginia won last years meeting by 21 and should have no problem matching that this year.

Oklahoma -46 vs Utah St - A mismatch of epic proportions. Oklahoma has already spanked N. Texas by 69 and Miami-Fla by 38. This same Utah St team (18 starters back) was shutout 4 times last year. This Oklahoma team is probably the best team Utah St has ever faced. Not much chance of the Sooners looking ahead yet with only Tulsa and Colorado coming up next.

Ohio St @ Washington UN 42 - Both defenses have been stellar and Ohio St. has not shown much offensively...in fact they are still experimenting. Washington has had the luxury of facing a horrendous Syracuse team and then a Boise St team that helped them out with 4 turnovers and 9 penalties. I don't think they will be real successful against this Buckeye 'D' which has only given up 8 pts, 245 total yds and 14 FD's in their first 2 games combined!

Michigan -7 vs Notre Dame - As poor as Michigan has played, Notre Dame has been even worse. How about 13 pts, 266 total yds of offense, -8 rushing yds (yes, -8) and giving up 64 pts in their first 2 games combined. That's freakin' pathetic. Now they face a Michigan team that's gotta be ready to kill someone and at least has the players to back it up. This one could be ugly.

Arkansas + 3.5 @ Alabama - Arkansas has won 3 out of the last 4 matchups in this series and probably has the better team this year too. The underdog is also 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these 2 teams. This should be a close one if not an outright Razorback win.

Nebraska +10 vs USC - USC is not the offensive team it was prior to last year. Last year they lost twice and won by 7 or under 3 times. They did beat Nebraska in L.A. 28-10 but it wasn't what I would call a rout. USC did not look all that impressive in their opener vs Idaho. Nebraska routed Nevada in the opener and then beat a pretty good Wake Forest team on the road. USC has only had the one game and then an off week. I just feel that Nebraska will be a little sharper and combined with the revenge factor and home field advantage should be able to cover this number and maybe even pull off a shocker.
