Ranked 7-3 the Illini are having a break out year.

While beating two top 25 teams this year
Illinois is still out...of the AP polls

There are 5 SEC Teams with 3 losses and ranked
and 4 of them are 6-3.

Yes the SEC is great football country we
all know that.....

What the world dont know is a Team
is coming together in Corn Country
lead by a General called Ron Zook

Keep your eyes on this team I have
told all year long

OSU has a Bag full of trouble coming
Saturday

Also something to think about.

Think back to last years BCS title game. The reason the Buckeyes got completely embarassed is because Florida's defensive ends just ran right around might OSU's monster tackles, backing up the theory that speed kills.

Now, when OSU played Illinois last year, the week before Michigan, Illinois came in 26 point underdogs, and ended up losing 17-10. Why? Because Illinois defense shut down the Heisman Trophy winner, Troy Smith. He was sacked 3 times and and threw for 108 with 0 TDs and 1 INT.

What happened in the National Championship game? Same thing. Smith was humbled to the tune of a whopping 35 passing yards and 1 INT!!!

The common thing in all of this? Now Illinois coach Ron Zook. Zook recruited all the defensive players that shut down Troy Smith in that National Championship game, and he had the same success last year against OSU when the Illini played them.

Just something to think about.

I think you have to take the +15.5 with Illinois here. I'd love to see them knock off OSU this week!!

I am sick and tired of the red and silver myself.

Alos like Minnesota +14.5 over Iowa in Iowa City this Saturday. Iowa getting a little too much respect here in my opinion!

Another look at the game from the Carpet

Ohio State has not given up over
17 points on Defense all year, now at first
I was impressed lets take a look at floor level

6-4 YoungTown State 38-6
3-6 Akron 20-2
3-7 Washington 33-14
5-5 Northwestern 58-7
1-9 Minny 30-7 (Illini beat Minny)
7-3 Purdue 23-7
3-6 Kent State 48-3
5-5 Mich State 24-17 (at the Shoe)
7-3 Penn State 37-17 (Illini beat PSU)
7-3 Wisky 38-17 (Illini beat Wisky)

On the surface it looks like a very soft schedule
to run up such numbers.

Every thing I hear is that the Wisky 15 point bet
is all about the belief that OSU's deep deep
bench will wear Illinois down late and pull away.

OSU may pull away with a victory but it
wont be any where near 15 points worth..

RUN DEFENSE

Ohio State is ranked 3rd in the nation on
Run Defense 65 yards allowed per game,
I dont think OSU has played
any team that Runs Like Illinois

See post above as To OSU schedule of teams played.

Illinois is ranked 6th in the nation
in Run offense at 261 yards per game.

Mendenhall of Illinois is the Nations 4th
best running back...

OSU has not faced a team with this type
of A Game running attack all year

This game Saturday Buckeye QB Boeckman
leads the Big 10 in QB efficiency....while
Vontae Davis Illinois CB is # 1 in Interceptions....

Illinois leads the Big 10 in rushing and Sacks
against......

OSU counters with leading the big 10 in Rush D,
Scoring Offense, Scoring Defense, Total Defense,
Passing Effiency.....etc...etc......

Ohio State is last in the Big 10 in Kickoff
return average......

Illinois has attempted 242 pass attempts
last in the big 10, Ohio State is next at 267

OSU has scored 8 of its opening first drive for a score,
including 6 in a row.....

Illinois remains a 16 point dog heading to the
HorseShoe.....

Last win vs number 1 team was 1956.....
Do they need any more motivation.......

A FEW TIDBITS OF INFO

Ohio State has only allowed 7.6 points
per game at home on Defense......thats impressive...
(but about to change in Carpets view).

Game starts 230 cst.
The weather for game day will be partly sunny
winds at 11-16 mph temp as a high 50 degrees.
Factor in the wind chill the second half will
be a War.............

OSU is a -8.0 favorite half time line, I
think its 10-10 at half....(Carpets floor view)
