I know my basketball but cant tell ya

that beat MD at home, Non Confrence game. ???

Joe Q Public will be all over Maryland...

MD should open a 2.5 chalk....

2. Free Throw shooting The Terps can shoot the
rock and will find MD at the line early and often.
70% as a team.

3. Gist (Tarrapins Best player) soild 3 point
shooter.

WEAKNESS vs ILLINI

1. REBOUNDING...........MD has no presence
inside....

2. Ball Control......playing 5 frosh at times
will result in turnovers.

3. Gist (While a 3 point shooter for MD) is
a threat he will not drive to the lane.

1. Experience.....Pruit and Randle inside 5-4
they will pound it inside.

2. Rebounding....Illini solid on second chance
points all over the board.

3. Defense ...Illini defense is still its staple
of last year clamp down...

WEAKNESS

1. Free throw shooting.........it will haunt the Illini
this game...........

2. Lack of dribble down penetration.......
Illini pass to much from the outside always throws
one to may passes.

3. FOULS....Illinois fouls way to much
as a team. Brian Randle 6-9 superstar
player is guilty 5 times a game (silly fouls)..

Illinois is coming off a 9 day road trip around the
world, this has got to be tiring for them.

The Illini shot 62% from the line last year ranking
dead last in the Big Ten, this year is no better
shooting bricks at the charity stripe 62%

Lack of guard dribble penetration, turnovers
and foul trouble for Illinois will be the difference

Maryland has a strong Defense that extends
out to full court.

Sloppy play as of late on turnovers has
allowed good teams to pull away late on MD

I see a good hard fought game by both teams
but factoring in travel and poor free throw shooting
by Illinois and MD should win this game.

Gary Williams of Maryland is an excellent
coach. He has got 5 freshmen loaded with talent
and coached them to their best game of the
early season. Keep your eye on this Maryland Team
in the future they gonna be real good.

ILLINOIS

FATIGUE played a major factor in this game
for Illinois....... All one had to do was watch...

Center Shawn Pruitt 6-11 bruiser for Illinois
was Earth Bound all day didnt see him jump once
all game....

ILLINI fired 97 shots from afar 27 from
3 point land and 70 from fg land. That tells
me one thing........Just pop and shot.....
When you are a tired team thats what happens.

Fatigue was the intangible for this game.

ILLINOIS BASKETBALL THE MELT DOWN?

As bad as the Illini played last night vs Maryland
incredibly they still had a shot with 26 seconds to play

Illinois loaded with Senior leadership loafed
thru a game and Coach Weber is not happy...

In the locker room after the game, there was no
throwing chalk boards, or dumping tables from
Coach Weber only a hard message to his players.

"Our upperclassmen need to do more in practice
to get better....We are only as good as our Upper
Class Players and it is obvious there are some not
doing enough in practice to get ready"

Basically he has challenged his Senior
Leadership to take Charge or be just a run of the mill
team.

I have watched this Coach work his magic with
teams and it is another Leadership issue the
Coach is pressing....

Next up for Illinois Weber State at DEC 1
at home for the Illini......Weber State from Utah
comes calling.

Mark the date Dec 8 Arizona vs Illinois at
Chicago, Carpet thinks you will see a whole new
Illinois team that will focus on the Coach and his
message...
