  • College Hoops-Week of Dec. 3

13-9 22 +3.1 units at www.freeSportsMonitor.com so far this year.

    Monday:

    Missouri State +9.5
(bought them to 10 at my book) over Arkansas...See a close game here and see some value with the dog. No fancy insight but MSU is a decent team out of a tough confernece.

UC-Davis +4.5 (+5 on the buy) over Dartmouth...Evenly matched squads and Dartmouth struggles to score. UC-Davis is 4-3 and may be an under the radar ATS team early this year in its first year of Div.1 hoops.

1-1 On Monday...Mizzou State got Blown out.

    14-10 TYD +3 units.

    Tuesday:

Michigan State -3.5 over Bradley--I bought it to 3. Think this one is close for a bit but MSU pulls away to cover on the road.

    Possibly more later.

      Adding:

New Mexico State -1.5 over New Mexico

Thats all I can find for tonight--Not going to push it too hard unless something jumps out at me.

Good Luck and feel free to add your opinions and insight to the thread.

        16-10
        61.54%
        +5 units

2-0 yesterday--I am glad I poassed on the others I was considering b/c they were all losers!!

Big Card today--These 2 jump out at me and played them before I think the lines may move.

Duquense +5.5 (bought to +6) vs. Pitt...Solid home doggy here as Pitt hits the road for the first time vs. improved in-state rival.

Southern Miss +4 at South Bama...Defensive minded team under Larry Euastachy that played Alabama tough and ended up losing by 2 at Bama. So Miss is one of my teams to watch early.

          woodee12,

Congrats on your good start to the college hoops season!

Really liked your MSU pick yesterday ... but am not quite feeling the same way on your pick today going against Pitt (-5.5/6).

Out of curiousity, what do you see as being in the favor of Duquesne in this evening's match-up?

It seems to me it is one of those fishy lines. Pitt is 7-0 playing a team that has played well and is ranked. A few years back, I would have jumped all over Pitt, but have learned a lot more since then. Duquense is scoring and defending well this year and are at home.

Realistically if Pitt is as good as there ranking and record, shouldn't they be more than 5.5 favs? The line is still there and not moving from what I see.

Nothing really olid to offer you on it but a 'feeling' I have that this one could be closer than you think.

When I look at the early season schedules for these two teams:

              Duquesne MBB and Pitt MBB

I'd be a little bit concerned about the Dukes' loss @ Drake and the way the Panthers seem to have held steady, as they've upped the ante bit by bit with W's vs Buffalo, Boston U and Toledo.

While I don't like the Panthers enough to hop on board myself, I can certainly see them covering this number (-6) with a 7-11 pt victory ... prior to their trip out to Washington.

Check out the OVER in the Pitt/Duquense game too. Both Run and Gun. Saw a 158 out there.

                Adding another pick:

Boise State -6 at Idaho State...Battle for all the Potatoes. Boise has a good team this year and has played some good teams.

                  One more:

Creighton +11.5 (bought 12 at book) over Xavier

                    YTD:
                    18-12
                    60%
                    +48 units

2-2 Yesterday. Won on the Duquense play by 1/2 point as Pitt won by 5, but don't really know how that game went and if it was a back door job or not. Would be curious to know.

                    Boise mashed Idaho State's potatoes.

Creighton got rolled by Xavier but only missed the cover by a few.

So.Miss lost by 7. Bad first half for them but won the second half which does not mean squat.

                    Overall sold plays, I think.

Nothing jumpinh out at me on Thursday so far but may be back with 1 or 2 later.

With 13 secs left Pitt was ahead by 6, at the line, shooting 2 ft's. Missed the first; made the 2nd, putting them up 7 pts. A subsequent layup by the Dukes, in the game's closing sequence, made the final score Pitt 73 Duq 68. It was a 4-8pt game when I checked in for the final few minutes.

                      Good job with your call.

woodee (or anybody else for that matter),

                          Any thoughts on tonight's LSU @ Villanova (-8.5) match-up?

                            Valpo +2 Over Wright State

                            Niagra -3 over Rider

Nothing really scientific on these plays. Just the teams that I think will both win rather easily.

Nova-LSU? No clue really. Probably would take the dog. But passing myself.

Like the Niagra play the only thing that concerns me with Valpo is the FT Shooting: Valpo: 60.4% Wright: 80.5%

See this game being close and this may be the difference. Either way best of luck!
