  • Hoops Starting Jan.2, 2008--

    YTD--Monitored at FSM.

    NBA 11-3 78.57%

    CBB 32-28 53.33%

Hit a rough patch the past couple weeks in hoops. Took a break with all the football going on and hopefully regrouped.

Going to come back slow and strong as conference play starts today.

My approach will be smart and disiplined epecially in the NBA.

Will be back later with any wednesday plays.

As always, please chime in and post your pick in this thread too. I am juts using this to geta discussion going each day in hopes of making some cash fopr all!

Found one that stuck out to me.

Bradley +8.5 at Missouri State...I bought it to 9. Both teams are on slides of late. Bradley got beat at home by a good UNI team and Mizzou State lost to SIU on the road. Think this is an even matched game with a few points MSU's way b/c of the home court. Think Bradley has a shot to win SU so I see value with the points.

I have a game for you to look at.

Ohio State vs ILLinois Line is ILL -4.5

Ohio State is a young scrappy team 9-3 for the year
as they beat up on cup cakes

OSU Shoots the FT very well and plays a solid
        Zone Defense.

The Buckeyes are a very streaky team having cold spells
that boggels the mind in a game. They seem to
shut down in the second half.

OSU vs T&AM scored only 22 points 2nd half
OSU vs UNC scored 23 points
OSU vs Butler scored only 16 pts 2nd half

At half time OSU was leading UNC by 3
and Butler by 10. And they shut down

ILLinois coming off a terrible home loss
        to Tennesee State at home.

Tennesse State ran a ZONE Defense at Illinois
all night long and Illinois has major problems
        with a Zone

Shooting 29% from 3 point land and 51% from the
foul line aint gonna beat any mid major team out there

Illinois Brian Randle is highly doubtful for the
game suffering a concussion (an elbow to his head)
        last game.

Illinois has not mastered the art of dribble down
penetration and every team knows it and will play
        a Zone.

While OSU is young they play at times
with brilliance, I have not seen that all year with
        Illinois..

Illinois opens Big 10 play 8-5 last time since
1998, Carpet has a feeling that the term the last time
will be heard again and again this year for Illinois

Take a look at the game Carpet thinks
Ohio State could put this program into a
        tail spin tommorrow

Thats funny...Just Grabbed OSU +5 (on the buy) right befroe I looked at this thread.

I have watched Illinois play a few times this year and I am not that impressed for them to be laying more than a few points. You nailed it all in your write-up.

Thursday plays--a couple more to come:

          Ohio State +5 over Illinois

Taking a peak at Oregon +3 over ASU. Anyone know of any Oregon injuries?

          Recap of last night:

Bradley lost by 11 witjhout their leading scorer Ruffin, which I thought could have been overcome. Missouri State is a team to watch for a go against on the road in my opinion. Bradley won the first half but got destroyed in the 2nd.

Penn State cleaned up after a slow start.

NBA play was a loser...Probably no more totals...Just thougth I saw an edge in that one.

                    98-86 UCON

Seton Hall had 31 Personal Fouls in the game
allowing UCon to go 34-47 from the charity stripe

Seton Hall shot 84 Field Goal attempts
and was a dismal 11-34 from the ARC

Thats 118 shots from the floor for SHU
vs 68 from the floor for UCon

                    Amazing those numbers

Let the Melt Down in Champaign begin,

OSU comes in and decimated Illinois
Illinois true to form shot 20% from three
point land thats 4-20 and that sucks

J Butler of OSU torched Illinois for 32 points

                      The ILLINI COMEBACK PLAN

ILLINOIS DOWN 10 with 3 minutes to play
TIME OUT ILLINOIS to allow the Coach to
provide a strategy to his players.

Waste 35 Seconds of the clock and then
take a bad shot and miss.

This is going to be one Long Ugly year
for Illinois basketball, infact the future dont
seem bright until 2009 for this team

Unless the Seniors begin to play some ball
(Carpets thinks the bench could beat the starters)
then its gonna be a long season....

So glad you passed on the Hall, saw your
post and felt obliged to provide you with
                          more information.

I dont look at every game, but they are times
when one of my fellow cappers puts me on point with info
                          it is then I review.

Been laying low on CBB early on for the most
part trying to see basic patterns of play developing.

Expect more participation from me in providing
my thoughts on CBB around the country this year.

A Game that jumped off the Carpet

                            Kansas -11.0 vs Boston College

Boston College is 10-2 and the Eagles
believe it or not are getting some poll votes
in the ESPN poll after beating Longwood.

So it was time to look at this game from the floor.

The Eagles are 8-1 at home this year abusing such
                            teams as:

                            New Hampshire
                            Florida Atlantic
                            Mercer
                            Rhode Island
Maryland (only semi qusay good win)
                            Sacred Heart
                            NorthEastern
                            Longwood
UMASS ( Only loss this year)

                            A LOOK AT KANSAS

                            13-0 ranked # 3

JayHawks average 83.5 points a game in Offense
allowing just 58.4 on Defense, (Thats a 25 point
                            scoring margin difference a game)

More Impressively KU has forced 17 turn overs
a game this year, and in one game they had
                            27 forced turnovers vs Yale.

Clearly Kansas is head and shoulders
                            above BC as a team.

I really question the line on this game
my numbers show Kansas by 17.5

Carpet is covering the floor Green with Kansas...

                            Good Luck all

                              Carpet-
After your post about the Kansas game I took some time to fully cap the game myself. My original instinct was Kansas all game simply because I think they'll roll over em. But i didn't think the line was all that bad so I had to do some research to see what line I would come up with. Without factoring in a home court I have about a 17 point spread as well. However, being that Kansas is a big time program and school is coming back in session so BC should have a big time home court advantage with a full student section. That being said I don't think the line moves all the way to 11 with the home court..but I could see 14 or so. I'm with you all day though Kansas will turn BC over too much and get to the line often. For BC to hang they'll need to hit about 50% from 3pt land..and I think if Kansas wants to they could even match that and still bury them by 20.
