Has anyone else noticed the dominance and ease that this horse wins with? If you`re into horse racing, you have seen a lot of horses come and go. We had some contenders for the triple crown, such as Real Quiet and Silver Charm, along with a couple others, but none of them were nearly as good. I have only been into thoroughbreds since maybe 95 or 96 and have never been legitimately excited about a horse, untill now. Too bad the Belmont will be his last race, would love to see what he could do as a 4 year old. I might have to go to NY and watch this.

I can take or leave daily horse racing. The extent of my track visits is a trip to Saratoga every now and then for a couple of days in the Summer.
But I've been hooked on the triple crown races for over 30 years......and for 30+ years I have been diappointed with no triple crown winner. I think 9 times in that span a horse won the first two legs and failed in the Belmont. Most of them had the same hype as big brown.
It's a tough task. You're asking these youngters to do things they have never done. That's what makes it so exciting.
The thing about Big Brown is, while he looks so good, his level of competition, this years crop of 3 year olds, isn't that good. If he wins it in 3 weeks, he won't be remembered the same way as Affirmed, for example, who had Alydar.
It will be fun though. I'll be watching.......I have often thought about going to the Belmont. But dealing with 100,000 + maniacs and the traffic and all doesn't seem worth it for a 2 minute race...........

I don`t want to get into comparisons, because there are a lot of legitimate comparisons out there. Holy Bull could very well be a better horse, but the fact is, he didnt get it done, whether it was the jockey`s fault or not. The only problem I have with Big Brown, is the weaker field of horses he has run against, but at the same time, is there really a better 3 year old out there right now? Winning the triple crown is NOT easy by any stretch. I don`t see him getting caught in the Belmont unless he stumbles out of the starting gate or gets injured.

Sorry "Pappa", but Holy Bull couldn't reach Big Brown's feed tub........That's about as nice as I could put it..........Kudos to you for making some greens on him in the mid 90's while he was beating up on a bunch of bush track also-rans, but that horse was a miler at best and kept beating up on the same stiffs over and over that were in his races while strictly running for 2nd place money anyway.........I've been watching horse races since the mid '60's, and this gray pile doesn't even crack my top 50..........."Brownie" is the real deal, a freak of nature and his bloodlines, and he'll easily prove it about a week-and-a-half from now, to go down in history as one of the best 3-year-olds ever............By the way, the Belmont won't be his last dance, the connections are preparing to take on the mighty Curlin, in the Breeder's Cup Championship........Good Luck my son.

F Dutrow!
This guy is a jackass! He had a horse recovering from an injury, thrown off his training schedule, and no longer on Winstrol...and this TOOL has the balls to blame Desormeux for a bad ride!!?? If Kent says the horse had nothing left, I will bet my left nut he didn`t. He did the right thing by pulling up and calling it a day.

I agree with you Capper.........The horse hit the proverbial "3-year-old wall"........3 races in a 5-week span once again proved the undoing for even the mightiest of quadrupeds...........What bothered me more about Dutrow's handling (mishandling?) of things, is how he overuled the blacksmith that suggested they patch the quarter crack in the foot of Big Brown on the morning of the race..........Instead, Dutrow insisted that they apply the patch on Friday morning instead..........Kind of like telling my doctor how to perform my surgery........The blacksmith is the best in the business and knows what's best for the horse -- and probably figured there would be some after affects, like when you get a tooth worked on and don't feel the pain until the next day, but yet is overruled by Dutrow who swears he doing what's right for the horse..........In all probability, he doesn't know what's right for the horse, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see a barn switch for this colt before the Classic races in the fall..........We'll soon see.;)
