  • Early college football looks

I ws glancing over the lines today and it got my blood flowing for some college football action.

I am sure Carpet is all over this game but the one that caught my eye was the Illinois/Mizzou game in St.Louis.

Maybe I am wrong but doesn't Mizzou getting 6.5 look pretty good? I know they are not the team from last year but I am not sure that Illinois is that much better than them with it being the opening game for both teams.

    Carpet, Any early thougths?

I haven't had a chance to look at much CFB info yet, but I am also liking Nevada +14 at Notre Dame as well. Anytime I can bet against the Irish, with a decent team, I like to do it. But again, I haven't sized up Nevada's team this year either.

    Man, I love college football!!

Also like me some wolfpack in that one. ND defense will not be able to shut down this offense enough to run away with this one.Like Nevada +14 and am throwing them into my Sweetheart Teaser of the week at +27.

      Woodee

I do have some early thoughts on this game and plan
to do a write up for it. I Hope you had a chance to read
      my post Illinois early thoughts.

I think the right team is favored here and I also
think the line may drop as we get closer to game time

Here is a quick blush from the Floor of the Carpet

Missouri: Losing QB Chase Daniels and WR Jeremy Macklin
is a major loss to the offense. With Daniels in the
drop back position for the snap and Macklin lined up
10 yards deep off the line it presented a challenge
      that few teams could stop.

That is gone for this year, The tigers also lost some
of their best defensive players to graduation which
was ranked 100th in defense last year, That sort of
tells me Missouri is a different team.

      ILLINOIS

Illinois has a new Offensive Coordinator who hails
from TCU. Last year TCU went 11-2 and gained over
5,000 yards on offense, scoring over 54 Td's

This is exactly the Offensive scheme iLLINOIS plays
already, a match made in heaven........

Illinois has never beat Missouri in Saint Louis
and the Seniors of Illinois know this all to well

I like Illinois by 10 in this game

Nevada and 14 vs ND in South Bend

From a time zone stand point I will give ND
        7 pts automatic.................

Then I factor in the size and speed of these
kids from Indiana in the Gold helmets, the
depth and pure hard hitting will pay a toll
on Nevada and slow them down

I DONT THINK nevada plays defense do they?

It's alot of points for a reason and think I would
take ND in this one by 21.

Charlie Wise and no dummy and scheduled this game
        for a opening reason.

What about looking at an OVER 60 in that game possibly?

I agree that the D on Mizzou side will be weak, but you also noted that the running D of Illinois may have some holes as well.

          Thats a consdieration.

Again, I haven't dug into the stats yet, so I may be off on that too.

I have to look up the score of last years game, but the Juice may be Loose for Illinois and put a big number!

              Michigan

The wolverines are having a QB issue which comes
              as no surprise to me

Coach Rodriguez states I cant make up my mind
and having 3 starting QB's could be neat

This guy from WV has not a clue of Big ten
              football

Show me a team with 2 starting QB's and you have
no real leader, Show me a team with 3 starting
QB's and you need a new coach.

                I agree!

There have not been too many sucessful 2 QB Big 10 teams around, but many crappy ones.

I have the Iowa-Michigan circled on Oct. 17th as one to watch and Play ON Iowa at home.

Michigan is always over-valued by the public and another fun team to go against.

I have a couple of games locked and ready to go for week 1.

Ohio St -22.5 vs Navy. This is a great spot for buckeyes. First they have a huge talent advantage. 2nd, they have all kinds of time to prepare for the triple option while navy has to work in some new players. Finally, they will be looking to give USC a lot of looks from Pryor. EZ cover here.

Minnesota -6.5 vs Syracuse. The gophers are coming around and will be opening a new stadium with a lot of excitement which is a little helpful. The big factor is that Cuse is bringing a QB that has not played football in years much less at the college level! I don't care what type of athlete you are, he will get skunked this first game. Combo that with a new coaching staff and players learning the new system and this one gets ugly early and often.

                  More to come.
