  • Gimmick Bets

I play a few bucks on these each and every week (without fail) because I find them cheap and entertaining. I don't bring them up often because yes I know they are sucker bets....BUT....I have to mention this now as a trend seems to be developing that may make this very profitable.

I throw a few bucks down on reverse teaser known as "pleasers", 6 points used against yourself making it harder to hit but with crazy odds. My system has been to play against what I consider the hideous NFL teams since they seem to get blown out routinely.

I generally play against bucs, rams, browns, raiders, chiefs, and skins if I like the teams playing them.

This week I used pats, colts, chargers, & pack for 10 bucks...paid 45-1.

also hit a 3 teamer with pats, colts, pack for 10 bucks...paid 17-1.

was "teased" badly by my 5 teamer that fell just short- pats, colts, pack, chargers, & saints (who failed to cover by a stinking half point).... that was paying 120-1....and I considered going against raiders but the "dirty sanchez" from last week scared me off.

I know most don't dabble in these or in props so I don't talk about them very much, but I play alot of this stuff (especially props). Anyone else into this?

I don't play pleasers, however, I do reccomend taking small shots routinely on multi team parlays, especially money line parlays.

I'm talking for peanuts. If you're a nickel player for example, I'd reccomend $10 and $20 shots. If you play for a buck a game or so then throw 5 bucks on them.

I guess I'm an advocate of this because I'm waaaaaay ahead doing this.

Every week, at least when I can remember to do so, I play one or 2 moneyline parlays. I may pick 3 or 4 underdogs that I really like and play them on the moneyline, mix in a few moneyline favs.....maybe even a spread or two.

5 figure payouts when they pop........makes up for those 20 dollar peanuts

what kills me weekly is finding winners in pleasers, but failing to cash in on them against regular point spreads. I don't know why I do it, but I could be having a banner season if I stuck to straight wagers only. I may be one of the best cappers and worst bettors ever. I do this on the horses alot as well.

Like tonight's prop of eagles over 22 points btw.

I like the ML parlays like Jeff. 6 pt teasers usually kill me. If I could play the pleasers, I would likely be a sucker for those.

Considering the ridiculous margins of victory in some of these games between the elite and the woefully pathetic teams out there, pleasers are not a bad investment.

I AGREE AND AM GONNA FIRE AWAY WITH A FEW MORE NEXT FEW WEEKS WRAPPING UP ALL THOSE POP WARNER TEAMS LIKE RAIDERS, RAMS, BUCS, BROWNIES, CHIEFS, & SKINS. THEY ALL JUST SUCK SO BAD IT SEEMS LIKELY THEY WILL GET BLOWN OUT. A LITTLE MIX-N-MATCH POTPOURRI OF SEMI-PROFESSIONAL TALENT
