And I would like to add that I have nothing to gain by taking a stance on this. I am out of contention anyway. I am just stating what is right and what should be obvious.

what I am getting at now is that every line he posts could be erronous and that I will get marked for a loss cause I picked a game where he made error on the line. it doesn't matter contest wise cause I am 500 and I know I am not in the running anyway, its the POINT!good luck

So the debate rages on.....what is ethical or what do the rules and subsequent revisions say?
Of course the line was skewered, BUT, xpapa did respond that it would stay the way it was posted unless Jeff overrides it. Jeff did not and therefore the line stays as posted. Don't blame xpapa on this one, and don't blame the players that took Nevada either.
I can see both sides of this but the opportunity for correction was put out there and it wasn't changed or addressed. Should be considered a gift week for those that took it.
Just my humble opinion. If we are going to have contests with cash prizes/sportsbook accounts, then you simply have to eat "mistakes" and move on. Changing some rules in mid-stream is even worse.

If everyone wanted to take advantage of an obvious error, then everyone would have had a winner. Why should those that were honest about it suffer? I knew it was an error and a for sure win the way it was posted, and I didn't take it. You think just a few sharp people noticed it and should be rewarded for their superior skills? The error was pointed out immediately! And the first 2 guys that took Nevada used -14.5 because they knew it was wrong. Do they get it wrong because they wrote -14.5, but everyone that just wrote 'Nevada' gets it right? At least some questioned it and gave alternate picks. To me, to take that game knowing it was at least 28 pts backwards is not much different than trying to cheat. Especially after it had been pointed out that it was an error. That's just me though. Obviously other people here don't have the same morals. The proper thing to do would have been to point the error out (like many did). The sleazy thing to do would be to take it as posted and try and get away with it, and then bitch when you get called out on it. Regardless of the outcome, at least we learned some important things about certain people's characters around here.Originally posted by hart attackSo the debate rages on.....what is ethical or what do the rules and subsequent revisions say?

I strongly suggest to let sleeping dogs lie. E.g., this week alone 27 of the lines that xbigpapa posted for week 9 of the Bettorsworld weekly college football contest have changed on USA today as of Friday afternoon Pacific Standard Time. The majority of changes have been by a half and single point. However, there were 4 games by a point and a half and one by 2 points.
As I previously suggested, these lines should be posted on Thusday, NOT Tuesday morning (these are ALL Saturday games). Also, the moderator/coordinator of the contest needs to promptly address lines in question and challenges which are brought to his attention during the week. This should not be a burden.
As with life, this contest is NOT perfect. Can it be improved? Definitely, YES. Let's move on.
Best of luck to the leaders.
