ILLINOIS vs Wofford Mens NCAA Basketball

Tuesday Night 8:45 pm cst Illinois kicks off
the Las Vegas Tourney.

The Wofford Terriers come to Illinois to play

This team represents the best match up for Illinois
early season. Beating Georgia only to lose to Pitt
at Pitt by 3 after having them down by 13 late second
half.

Wofford is well coached with tough players and
its gonna be a tussel (per coach weber). The Terriers
have two main scorers. A dynamite guard who is
always driving to the lane and a Big Center who is
pretty good. Not a deep team in terms of Bench.

Illinois 3-0 is avg 90 points a game on Offense.

Led by a sensational back court this team has
alot of weapons. The Inside out Game of Illinois
is very impressive. Last game this team had 27 assist
they dont dribble much when they have the ball.

The freshmen class of DJ Richardson, Brandon
Paul and Tyler Griffey has added a whole new level of
talent for this team.

The Illini are deep with the bench, they will wear down
alot teams over 40 minutes.

I really like what I see with this team, they are young
and Coach Weber is loving this coaching challenge
of managing pure talent. This team reminds me
of the 2003 team when Deron Williams, Dee Brown
and Luther Head first played together.

I have taken a great deal of time looking at these
two teams and this game.

A Look at Wofford..........

Losing last night to Bradley by 2 points shooting only
33% from the floor.

The terreries shoot alot of three point shots, not a
real flashy team and they dont make many mistakes.

They will play alot of 2-1-2 Zone on defense and
the Center is assigned to stop penetration.
(Illinois will be able to create penetration with the
dish pass and the Bigs of Illinois will have a big game)

They also play a man to man switching defense that
just may be a step slow on the switch vs Illinois.

The defense of Wofford does not make many block shots
on defense in fact its rare when they do block a shot.

One good thing they do is block out after the shot even
the guards are blocking out even after a three point shot
which you dont see often as a team.

Wofford is small, the Center is 6-9 and then it drops
to 6-6 and 6-2 on the front lines.

Illinois is 7-0 at center, 6-10 and 6-9 at forward and
they can throw bigs at you all night long from the
bench.

The guards of Illinois are 6-5 6-3 and 6-1 respectively
almost taller than wofford entire team.

Illinois is going to turn up the defense on this team
and if they hit the glass wofford will be hard pressed
to stay in this game.

The inside outside game of Illinois that is made easy
by great ball movement will be way to much for wofford
to withstand. Last game Illinois had 27 assist and most of
them did not come off a dribble.

The game is in Champaign Illinois and most students
have left, but it will be a full house

This Illinois team is young and growing up right
in front of your eyes, yes they have alot to learn
but the talent is there and weber is pushing alot
of buttons to determine the right balance.
