Vandy ranked 24 comes calling on Illinois Tuesday
Illinois opens a 4.0 chalk at home.
A LOOK AT VANDY
6-1 with Quality wins over Missouri, Depaul
Arizona and ST Mary CA. Only loss to a talented
under rated Cinnci squad.
The Coach is Kevin Stallings who played High School
ball at Collinsville HS while I was a student there.
Stallings went on to play for Purdues final 4 team
and landed as a asst to Coach Keady at Purdue. Both
Stallings and Coach Weber learned under coach Keady.
You can bet that these two teams will be all out
playing similar style of hustle and grit all game.
Vandy is athletic, maybe the most athletic team they
have ever had.
BIG inside with a battleship 6-10 260lbs at center
he will not be pushed around.
Vandy is not that great at guard play, they rarely push
the ball into the paint for the dish, and they rarely
set up plays. Turnovers have been killing Vandy all
year as these guards will turn the ball over alot.
At the charity stripe they have two players who can
make it almost every time, and these are the two players
who get to the linbe most often. The rest of the team
are brick layers from the old days from the free throw line.
A LOOK AT ILLINOIS
7-0 Tisdale and 6-10 Davis down low will be a tandem
working on Ogilvy of Vandy down low. On offense
these two will be more agile than Ogilvy down low.
Both teams rebound badly, and both coaches are
preaching that tonight to the players. For Illinois
to win this game they must out rebound Vandy
The guards at Illinois are just to quick for Vandy
and if this game gets running it will favor Illinois
on Offense and Defense.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Illinois at home, playing off two wins, a clemson
stunner and a Boise state sleeper, which team will
show up?
Illinois and Vandy will be a good game to watch
and I see Illinois pulling away late in this game
just to many horses.
