  • DINGERS NFL CONF. CHAMPIONSHIP PICKS

I have crunched the numbers and the system is not very high on the Colts. They win games, but don't dominate.

    5* NYJETS +7.5
(I actually have the Jets winning this game...Not a big fan of my own pick, plus being 5*'s against Peyton Manning at home...GULP!!!).

    1* MIN Vikings +4.5
(I have Saints -1...difference of 3.5. Take the points in what should be a close game.)

I thought the Colts were handling the Jest just fine until starters were pulled a few weeks ago. I can see the Colts being able to score enough to put that Jet offense in trouble.

I am also leaning to the over in NFC tilt. Both teams can throw the shit outta the pigskin stretching the game and just producing points. Hard to choose who will come out on top. Either team could score 45.

Then again, I was positive the Cowgirls would stay hot as a firecracker.....

Colts are a 8-8 without Manning. I'm telling you this team is not as good as it's record. I've crunched the numbers of their last 14 games and they are not very impressive.

I'm obviously misunderstanding the "Colts are 8-8 without Manning" thing, because as far as I know Manning hasn't missed a start since 1998. What do you mean by that?

My guess would be that he is saying IF they didn't have Manning, the rest of the team is of .500 caliber.

Good Point about the Colts not blowing anyone away. If we revisit the yards per point stats, these two teams have identical ypp numbers on the, year......of course the Jets have two gimme games in there and the colts have two where they laid down.

I have gone against the Jets twice in the playoffs. I keep thinking the Jets offense and Sanchez is going to get them in trouble. But they hang around in games with a shot to win it late.

Last time they played it was 9-3 at the half......so, they were hanging around again....before the Colts yanked the starters.

Rivers was able to find open receivers and complete some fairly long passes. You have to believe Manning will do the same.

The Ravens had a pretty good defense and, I think, a better offense than the Jets, and the Colts were able to put them away.......I wouldn't underestimate the Colts defense.......they will likely give the Jets one dimensional attack problems.

I'm likely going to pass the game. But I have a feeling Mr Manning is going to be playing for ring #2 and his place among NFL greats come Feb 7th.

My feeling is that it will be close for awahile but that the Colts will pull away late as is often the case in title games. 24-10 or 27-10.....something along those lines.......but I'm not brave enough to bet against these Jets here.....they burned me twice already

Copy that, if the Colts didn't have Payton, this team would struggle to 8-8.
              (Opinion)

I agree, it's hard to bet against the best player in the league.

I can't fully explain why my system, don't like the Colts. I crunch about 15 different indicators to develop a power rating and the Colts come out flat even with 14 wins this season.

Watch out the Jets could be this years Cardinals. They could pull the upset!

Dinger, if you're right it will be old man against the new kid. Jets are playing great football right now. Hard to bet against Peyton at home. One other note: two of the best defenses would play each other. Doesn't really matter to me, but would like to see a good game whoever makes it.
