A Look at this game from the Floor
I have looked at this game inside and out and here is what I see.
The line opens NW -1.5 as a home chalk.
A Look at the Cats
NW coming off a game where they fell behind 9-0 to start the
game and panicked heading to the bench 2 minutes into the game looking
for a spark and that experiment failed as the lead grew to 23.
The Cats strength is ball handling ranked as one of the nations best
Leader in assist at 73%. Also ranked 6th in assist to turn over ratio.
The interior Defense of the cats is soft when they play a zone
(Tisdale and Davis had 51 pts and 28 boards combined last time we played them)
NW will test the waters inside on Offense with the back door princeton
style of play. I saw them to that to Purdue about 10 times. But when that
option is closed they have ZERO inside presence and will go back to shooting
bombs. (They shot 47 three point shots vs Illini last game and had just
3 back door cuts)
A LOOK AT ILLINOIS
Sporting a 2 game losing streak, a couple smack downs by MSU and
Purdue and the coach is looking for a answer.
Illinois has a 11 game win streak vs the Kitty Cats (longest in the Big 10)
The Illini have the edge over NW in Stats in the following areas
Points per Game, FT%, FG%, Rebounding and Bench Production.
NW has the advantage in Defense and Turnovers.
Illinois is also soft on the Interior but Coach Weber will be all over
stopping the Princeton style back door cut, forcing NW back out side.
NW has no answer for Tisdale or Davis inside. You can sure bet that
Bill Carmondy of NW is dialing that in as we speak.
Illinois must get into a fast tempo game, when they do it just all flows
on both sides of the ball.
Coach Weber has got to know this late in the season its time to
stop tinkering with the Line up. McCamey has scored over 60% of the
offense for Illinois last 4 games.
I think the freshmen guards of Illinois will play a huge factor in
this game as NW trys to counter Illinois inside game.
Just to deep, to talented, and to desperate to lose this game even in
Injun Country
Illinois rolls 78-63
