  • Bettorsworld 2011 MLB Contest - Official Contest Rules

The Bettorsworld 2011 MLB Contest will start the weekend of April 8 -10 and end the weekend of July 8 - 10, 2011.

    Prize money will be:
    1st $250
    2nd $150
    3rd $100

    Here are the contest rules:

    1) Bettorsworld MLB Contest will run for 14 weeks starting the weekend of April 8 - 10 and end the weekend of July 8 – 10, 2011.
    2) Pick 3 games each weekend, Friday – Sunday, which can be selected all on 1 day or a combination of the 3 days, e.g., 1 on Friday and 2 on Sunday, or 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, and 1 Sunday.
    3) The 3 weekend games MUST be selected in this way: 1 Straight Up (SU), 1 OVER/UNDER (O/U), and 1 Underdog Money Line (ML) + 130 or greater from scheduled weekend Friday – Sunday MLB games. The SU and ML picks must be separate games. Wins and ties will be scored as follows:

    - Straight Up (SU) Win = 1 point
    - Over/Under (O/U) Win = 1 point and a tie = ½ point.
    - Money Line (ML) Underdog + 130 or Greater Win = 2 points

    4) Should a contestant select a scheduled game that is canceled because of weather conditions or other extenuating circumstances, they will need to select another game FIRST that weekend or SECONDLY make the pick the following weekend. The exception to this rule is the final weekend of July 8 – 10, that is, no makeup games after July 10th.
    5) The tiebreaker, if necessary, will be the July 12th All Star game SU, combined total runs scored and combined total hits.
    6) LV Hilton lines will be posted 1 day prior or early morning of the scheduled games.
    7) Each pick must be POSTED at least ONE HOUR prior to the scheduled start of the SELECTED GAME (s) that will be played on that day. PLEASE READ THIS RULE CAREFULLY!
    8) Editing selections will not be allowed even if there is a starting pitching change. Once your selection(s) is posted, it is official.
    9) Weekly contest scores/standings will be posted Tuesday of each week.

Note: Elected to go with the 2 point WIN for the Underdog ML + 130. In the real world of wagering, this is where the $ can be made. After weekend 7 or 8, let’s see who has the best record in picking these games. Going back to the weekly NFL contest last Fall 2010, if you had followed resteasy and dogcatcher’s NFL picks the last 6 or 7 weeks of the season (pre-playoffs), they went something like 11 and 3 (79%). Hopefully, this can happen with the MLB contest.

    Good luck to all!

Back on March 31, you mentioned that you would assist with scorekeeping. Are you still interested? Anyone else?

Sorry I'm late to the table. This looks to be a scoring nightmare. Glad I'm not keeping score. OK, well maybe I could help in a pinch :^ )

On the positive side, not as many players to score as our football contests.
And.......no sign of xbigpappa (so far).

            Here’s how you do it?

You set up an EXCEL spreadsheet.

Column A label it “Num” in Cell A2 - assign a numerical number to each participating capper- 1, 2, 3, 4,……….40

Column B label it “Capper” in Cell B2 and insert name of capper starting in Cell B4.

Column C label it “Type Game” in Cells C1 and C2 - label Cell C4 – “SU”, label Cell C5 –“O/U”, and label Cell C6 – “ML”.

            Column D label “Friday Pick” in Cells D1 and D2 – insert capper’s pick(s) into adjacent Cell D4 e.g., NY Mets, Cell D5 No O/U pick leave blank, Cell D6 e.g., Wash+155.

Column E label “Win Lose” in Cells E1 and E2 – for a win insert assigned point score of 1, .05, or 2 in adjacent Cells E4, E5, or E6.

Column F take the EXCEL paint Bucket and fill in a color for a column break and ease of reading.

Horizontally, copy and paste the above for "Saturday Pick" and "Sunday Pick".

Horizontally on the spreadsheet do a SUM (addition) of the cells containing cappers winning scores for the three days (can’t exceed 4 points).

Repeat the above vertically down the spreadsheet for each participating capper. Bingo.

For column B, would suggest to insert participating cappers first and sort names alphabetically – A to Z.

Isn’t it amazing, the guy who designed and marketed this didn’t even graduate from college and is a billionaire (Bill Gates) and degenerate gamblers like us use it for this purpose.

Hi my friends and good luck in the baseball contest.

I am not going to play in this as baseball is not my strong suit, so good luck.

One really solid bet that I have been winning on when I do bet baseball is to take underdog vs a solid pitcher, the odds are better and chances are that this pitcher may have a bad day the pay off is much higher

I'm with you Carpet, Baseball puts me to sleep.
If I did play it would be against big chalk who
                              open high and go higher.

                              Best of Luck to All
