      Papa,

Why not run the Contest through the Conference Championships? There are more Conference Championships this year and those are great games. Why end the fun so soon at Thanksgiving? Especially since we might not have NFL this year or it might be starting late.

      Just a thought.

          Xbigpappa:

Agree with The Boys and Wide that the 2011 College Football Contest should be extended thru December and on to the final BCS Championship Game scheduled on Monday, January 9, 2012.

Here are some ideas you may want to consider:

          - Early December 2011, besides the SEC Conference Championship game, include the other Championship Games - ACC, BIG 10 & PAC 12 (new this year), and BIG 12 or now BIG Whatever (not sure they’ll schedule a game because of only 10 teams in the conference). I believe the majority, if not all, of the Championship Conference games are scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2011. The BIG East also has two games scheduled on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Contestants only need to select 1 December 3rd, Saturday game.

          - Throughout December 2011, include only Saturday scheduled Bowl games. Contestants only need to select 1 Saturday game. The tentative schedule for Saturday Bowl Games 2011:

          Drove Humanitarian - Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011
          R+L Carriers New Orleans - Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011

          Sheraton Hawaii - Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011

Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas - Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011
          Hyundai Sun - Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011
Kraft Fight Hunger - Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011
          AutoZone Liberty - Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011
          Chick-fil-A- Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011

          - Include individually all 5 of the BCS games scheduled in early Jan. 2012 - Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, and BCS Championship Game. Contestants are required to select the winner of each BCS game individually for points (1 point for the winner of each game).

I realize it adds additional work, but it will make the contest more competitive. Also, I know you like to solo the entire contest (posting and scorekeeping), however, there are some very competent contest participants who likely would be willing to volunteer and assist you with the scorekeeping (not me).

Again, just some ideas for you to consider.

Well, we usually have a Bowl Contest separately, so maybe cut the regular season contest off after the Conference Championship games and then we begin the Bowl Contest.

Per my recollection, Xbigpappa has used the SEC Championship game (1st Saturday in Dec.) as the tiebreaker for the weekly college bowl contest in the past. In 2009 it came into play, last year 2010 it was not necessary.

So, for the coming year 2011, other than adding the other Conference Championship games on Saturday, Dec 3 and working out a scheme for a tiebreaker that day, nothing major has changed. Just adding 1 extra week. Not sure the NFL season affects the extra college week.

              OK!

First, the odds for me to repeat or even finsih in the money are slim to none! I don't think my lucky coin will win me that many again. And if I cannot copy someone's pick in the end to secure my 1st place finish if I am in the lead, I don't know what I will do...

Second, I would vote to cut it off before the bowl as they are a different animal and I think its fun to do a bowl contest separate. Maybe??? extend it thru the conf. championships but no longer than that.

I actually like how it is now and how it has been, but I wouldn't be too upset if it changed slightly if majority wanted it that way.

Woodee, I like your odds way better than those other two.. You showed me last year that you have game. I also like it the way things are, but Maybe we need the top three or five need to email there posts the last few weeks. This as long as they do it an hour early so the rest of us can benefit from their wisdom.. Just my opinion...

I have not seen the complete regular season schedual for College Football, but there is usually only 1 week left after thanksgiving weekend, and I have been using it as a tiebreaker week. If we go 14 weeks instead of 13 what will be used as the tie breaker? I want no parts of adding the Bowl season in as part of the regular college seasons, as Woodee said, Bowl games are a different animal and should remain separate from the regular season. Personally, the system has been working great the way it is past 7 years. Unless Jeff overrules, Im leaving it as is, except for the last 3 weeks, where leaders will e-mail pics in, to protect the integrity of the contest!

Really looking forward to this year's College Football contest since that might be the only game in town.......Things are looking pretty dim for a complete NFL Season.

I agree that the College Bowl Contest should be a separate deal -- so that I can have a chance at defending my title !!!.................Hello World !!!

                          ;)

Same to you Raider..........Hey man, I've been reading some of your early football posts -- and it seems that you're thinking Alabama might be in some tough spots this season.........I saw how you picked a couple of teams to upset them, or at least give them a hard time.........What's up with that ?.........Do you think they'll suck this year ?

Does Auburn have anybody to step in for Cam Newton ?
                              ;)
