  • Be on the look out for MLB Umpire Paul Emmel ~ 21-1 O YTD

Look closely at MLB.com and the lineups today to find Paul Emmel as the home plate umpire.

I have been riding him since Mid-June. He has been an OVER machine.

He should be coming up as the home plate umpire either today or tomorrow.

Here is history for this year:

    Good stuff...

Does he have a small strike zone or what?

Actually, it looks like he has a large strike zone. Lots of strike outs. I think the batters just swing away with him behind the plate.

His strike % seems to be in line with everyone else, at around 62.5% (5 strikes for every 8 pitches).

I didn't see Paul Emmel in any of the 11 games today.

Be on the lookout for him at the other 4 series that start tomorrow:
        Boston/Baltimore
        Mets/Cincinnati
        Oakland/Kansas City
        Arizona/St. Louis

Nope, the changed that back in late 90s. There are no longer NL or AL umpires, just MLB umpires. I think that happened around the time they did away with the NL & AL presidents.

Well, should we fade him now?

After going 23 overs, he went under 2-1 on the AZ/STL game the other night.

He's 23-1 to the over now and will be behind the plate at the Yankees/Red Sox game in NY tonight. The Total is 9.5

Taxman had him at 21. Some other poster elsewhere has him at 23. ??

                  Morlaes vs Hughes.

Tempting to take the over in that game and hope Hughes struggles again. He can give up the homer and he hasn't made it past the 4th inning twice in a row now (both away games however) ..... and 4 of Morales' 7 homers have come against New York.

He was NOT the home plate umpire he was 1st base in that game. I think he was suppose to be home at some point but it ended up him not being home plate. So that game doesn't count.

^ not sure if I was right about it counting only as home plate. Would make sense though.

                        He's at the RedSox/Yanks game
                        O/U 9.5 on that game.
I already had the over on a bet but will likely increase it now. My only worry is that there was an article about it so I wonder if it'll break tonight.

It's probably 9.5 not 9 because of him and no wit's -130 juice.

                          I guess I'll lay off.

Sure he was not behind the plate that last game?

You were right from the other night:

Umpires - Home - Gary Darling, First Base - Paul Emmel, Second Base - Scott Barry, Third Base - Jerry Meals

it's been 9.5 since last night. I already had a little on it increased my wager some after seeing this.
