    RULES

    1. Use whatever line you want, just be honest with your fellow gamblers. And do not past-post!
    2. We're using units. Please post like this: "NY Yankees pick -130 for 1 Unit" or "Cin/NYM OVER 8.5 +105 for 2 units" or something similar.
    3. Each player is limited to a maximum of 5 plays per day. NO PARLAYS, straight bets ONLY.NO EXCEPTIONS!
    4. You may bet games for 1-5 Units. Whole units only!
    5. You can play the run line, straight up or totals.
    6. Please post your prices and numbers on all plays.
    7. No edited posts please. If you screw up, just post again, it's no big deal...
    8. Each player is allowed to make 1 POW (up to 10 units) per week, 1 POM (up to 15 units) per month and one POY (up to 20 units) per year. A detailed analysis should be provided on these types of plays.
    9. Analysis is encouraged with each play!
    10. I will tally up all results daily (hopefully) and have a new thread up for the next day around 11:00pm the night before. If you want to post and don't see a thread, go ahead and start it. Eventually, cut and paste the rules if you have the time.
    11. If your play is dependant on the starting pitcher, specify it in your post, if your guy doesn't start, let me know so I don't miscalculate, otherwise all plays posted have action. (I will use "adjusted action" in certain situations))
    12. Players must make at least 100 plays throughout the season to be eligible for prizes

Monroe Eaford, I have been following this thread the last several days and I think a few are fudging on the lines, in particular Ricker.

Ricker always seems to have the best lines. What I think he does is he looks at line movement data from the moment the line comes out and then he posts his picks just minutes before the game starts picking the best line he found during the day. What the line is currently is irrelevant, unless of course it just happens to be the best for the day.

I know Ricker is picking his games wisely, but fudging on the lines can make a big diference too in the long run and I just hate it when cheaters win and don't get called on it.

I don't think there is any cheating going on there. Maybe he shops at 10 different books and finds those lines. Winners are winners and like you say in the long-run it may help a little but for our purpose here I don't see a problem. You aren't in the contest anyways so why do you care so much.

It smells like the Only 1 may be back to me under yet another name.

      my picks:

      5 units:

      Expos -126
      Rockies +103
      LA/COLO UNDER 12 -110
      Brewers +103
      Indians -101

Jesse, I don't see it that way at all. His lines look right on the money to me. I'm sure if Ricker were fudging his lines some of the other players would have voiced their opinion about it... nobody has done so. The reason he's up over 260 units is because he's picking alot of winners, not because he's messing with the lines. I don't know if he is using line movements or waiting for signs from God to make his plays... I just know he has been winning alot and IMO Ricker is doing it fair and square.

I agree that Ricker is picking his games wisely and it appears that he is by far the best handicapper in this forum.

However, what I think Ricker is doing is when he lists his games, he lists his line as the best one offered during the course of the day, whether that is the actual line he got or not. If this is so, he is giving himself a tremendous unfair advantage. The majority of the others in this forum are not doing that. That is they are listing the line that they actually paid for.

My point is I believe in playing by the rules and I respect those that are and feel it is ok to point out those who may be guilty of handicapping dishonesty.

You are right. I am not in the contest. I am also not purposely trying to provoke Ricker and if no one else agrees with me, then fine - just ignore what I say. However, I feel that my point does hold merit for thought.

            Jesse Kaleva:

Get in the contest and let's see what you've got. I dont think many of the guys here will pay much attention to an outsider.
