You are right how did we get in this topic, sorry to the rest. I think you may be happy that Antigua stood up to the US but for a small country that depends in a lot of ways to the US (like Costa Rica too) that might be political suicide in other areas. Most small countries can't take that luxury. I have nothing againts Antigua books, I just think that you must play or not with them because of the way each book is run and not only because they are Antigua books.

Oh yes I know you are the balls guy, but you still have lots of admirers.

      First Post Ever:
This Board is for me!! Several thinking, intelligent bettors giving me info I could not get anywhere else.

I like what Antigua has done. They are ahead of Curacao because they know the BEST way to make THEIR books succesful is to make them undeniably honest. Whether or not they will succeed in the face of USA hostility and whether or not they have the talent to regulate well remains to be seen.

Ultimately, Curacao and Antigua should use their regulatory honesty as a way to compete with the wild-west of Costa Rica. But my experience is that neither sportsbooks owners nor regulators are smart enough to make it happen.

One final point about quality of service (someone mentioned personnel skills in CR):
One book in Curacao has better personnel than anyone in CR. Til you've had the pleasure of working with them, you cannot make blanket statements about country-by-country personnel. The secret is the quality of training, and this book is so far the best that I have quit betting in Europe with the second-rate service and the 3% charges--and I LIVE in Europe!

Tony, yeah the 3% is crap and will be gone pretty soon I think. But you can already skip this "service charge" with Bowmans, Victor Chandler Superbook, William Hill, or Sportingbet.

Any legal street-corner sportsbooks in Portugal?
