I received my check for $1,000 today and they picked up the cost for DHL which pleasantly surprised me. I am looking at the check and it is from a Bank in Costa Rica. That's unusual as most checks I get from Costa Rica originate from somewhere else like St. Kitts/Nevis.
Also, just a minor note, the check has perfs telling me it is computer generated. These guys have a very good system in place there. I spent alot of manhours at Paradise and really got to know the software and it is solid as a rock. Other than poker faces, there isn't much of a difference from real live poker. I didn't see any collusion, they post the IP addresses at the top...these guys seem to have thought of everything. And I got my check quickly.
Sportbettor and others...I know I'll log back in there soon and I will use a name which has Boomer in it (I think I initially tried and the name was taken) so I can play some cards with you guys. I only play $10-$20 Texas Hold-Em though.

I mainly play omaha.
walleyk, I too am waiting for Omaha Hi/Lo. I make more money from Omaha Hi/Lo every year at local cardrooms than I do from all other forms of poker combined with middles/scalps in sports betting. Paradise says they will add it (it is like the top 5 request from users on their website).
Hey anyone who plays there let me know your screen name so I don't take too much of your money hehe.
However, be wary, Omaha Hi/Lo is a game MADE For collusion. One guy on nut hi, one guy on nut low, raise-raise-raise etc. The difference with Hi only is that there are always draws to beat the nuts (unless there is a pair), so while it is benificial to raise with the nuts, having another person doing the raising also (with a shared bankroll which is what collusion is) is giving the drawing player 2-1 on his money. Still good for the colluders, but much differnt (and less profitable) than Hi-lo where you are only drawing to win 1/2 the pot in most cases. Even saying this, I will still play hi/lo cause I am sick like that
Quirks issues I have so far:
1) They have some bad connections sometimes in Costa Rica (router issues) which causes you to be forced off the game. However as long as you have not used up your 3 all-ins for the day you are ok (and actually it is mathematically advantageous to be all in. If you could do it every hand you would be plus since you cannot be bet off the hand).
2) Their servers crash sometimes which closes all games for a while. This happened a few times over a month ago but I have not seen it recently. They refund all money in action from the hand in which the server crashes which is the only fair thing to do.
3) The radial buttons which they have that allow you to "fold" "check/fold" etc. prior to your turn, are in the same position as the FOLD, CHECK, RAISE buttons which appear when it is your turn. The problem is that sometimes depending on the situation, the check radial button is on the same position of the screen as the call button for example. This causes you to sometime call when you meant to fold. The solution is not to use the radial buttons when the action gets near you.

hey groz,
You will need to download a 2.1 meg file to play. If you are having problems just getting to their webpage, you may have even more problems downloading the file.
If you want I could email you the exe file. It may be easier for you. You should definitely only play in the "fun" tables (i.e. no money) until you are sure you have a reliable connection.

Sportsbettor,
I was finally able to download and take a look at the poker room. I was surprised that I was stalled before, because I have a cable modem.
It seems pretty interesting. I'll just watch and maybe play practice games for a while. Thanks Again.
Best Of Luck,
Groz

No prob Groz,
One word of advice. I don't know your poker experience, but if you are not that good I would definitely recommend buying the book:
Hold em for Advanced Players by Skalansky and Malmuth.
While the play described is for $15/$30 and above generally (especially the semibluffing stuff), much of it is applicable to the lower limits. And at paradise it is weird but sometimes even the $2/$4 games are tighter than some $10/$20 games I have played in. In these types of games, most of the stuff in the book will work.
But to sum the best strategy up. Tight but Agressive. And in Omaha, tight, tight, tight because if you dont have the nuts, someone else does.
In generally if you are playing more than 25% of your non-blind hands you are playing too many hands and are thus a fish. Though you can win in the short term (due to statistical flucutations), but you cannot win in the long term if you play too many hands unless you are a very good player and can escape from the bad situations that playing too many starting hands puts you in.

I wanted to give on update on Paradise Poker and their competitor Planet Poker.
First of all, in my experiences Paradise Poker is head and shoulders above Planet Poker, which was buggy and just didn't have as natural and realistic a feel as Paradise.
In addition, I sent a couple of dimes yesterday to Paradise Poker and when Fedex tried to deliver it today, the tracking info said no one was there to receive it. I sent an email to support and they credited my account with the 2 dimes immediately on my word and the tracking info.
These guys are good. Their software is awesome, their customer service very responsive, and I received a payout in a few days. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
