    Dukey,

Almost all the past posts come from obscure events. By that I'm not implying that Wimbledon is an obscure event, only that with so many courts and the time differences (most books work on EST) starting times change. Times to take bets for all sports are different. I would book bets on baskets with a 10 point dog winning 10-0 3 minutes into the game, but hockey came off at the scheduled start. Horse racing is the most brutal to book. With twenty tracks running at the same time you use the starting time in the Racing Form. You can't watch every race at every track.

Most books get a feel for their customers they know whose playing and whose trying to take advantage.. on any given saturday during college football there are ten time changes, all published. But every now and then a game starts an hour earlier. Maybe the guy in Nebraska is watching the game on local tv and Don Best is slow on the trigger posting a score, thats a past post. We're not talking about a guy who bets a game at 7:39 that went at 7:35.

Your very critical of books thinking they are out to rob you. The truth is they are trying to beat you. With the advent of the net and 24 hour gambling along with European sports and different time zones the book can't work all those hours himself. What does he do?? He hires people to run his business.

Without some kind of time constraint, his employees friend can make any bet he want's when the game is over.

I've never met Reality, even though we know a lot of the same people, but I would rather have him and a lot of other bookmakers watching my back then some of the players I've met over the years.

You want honorable, Talk to BS from WWTS or Spiro or any of the older PRO bookmakers out there. You keep forgetting that this business used to run the other way. We booked the bets then had to wait to get paid. When we didn't get paid we didn't have these forums to bad mouth our customers.

When someone past posts an office do they come here saying so and so did this. No way..

                  devil,

I am not saying that all books are out to rob people. They should simply let it be known to all their bettors which games they have decided to refund all wagers on. As I have stated before many times, I don't think this is too difficult a task for the sportsbook.

Simply have a section on their website reserved for special notations:

                  Saturday July 1, 2000
All bets made after 6:00 on the Rosset/Haas match will be refunded due to past posting

Why is this too difficult to do? This lets the bettors know why their bets were refunded, and prevents the sportsbook from not cancelling the losing wagers made on the match.

If sportsbook want to be honourable, they should be more than willing to comply with something like this. No one has given me a good reason as to why a sportsbook couldn't do something like this. They don't want to, that's why. They want to reserve the right to pick and choose which tickets to cancel. Want to try to explain this to me, devil?

I can guarantee you that not every sportsbook will readily refund a losing wager that was past posted. If this were the case, why do those people who do intentionally past post bets sweat out their games? They could get away with it, they could get caught and have their bet cancelled, or they could lose and not have their bet cancelled.

There is definitely a risk involved because past posted wagers that end up losing are NOT necessarily refunded. If it was written in stone that ANY wager past posted would be REFUNDED, then there wouldn't be any risk to a scammer, would there?

Scammers would send truckloads of money to one of these "solid" outs mentioned to me by Reality. They would find a game to past post and unload on it. Where's the risk? Supposedly, these books will ALWAYS refund past posted wagers, so should the scammer's wager lose, then they simply have to call up the book and tell them that their wager was past posted. The rules state that any wagers past posted are to be refunded, right? Well, good luck trying to get your money back from the sportsbook.

I just want to make sure that ALL wagers on past posted games are refunded by the books. Sorry if I'm skeptical. I just think that any sane person should be skeptical.

The books will definitely be quick to cancel winning wagers that were past posted, but I definitely wouldn't bet my life that they would always do the honourable thing and cancel the losing wagers also.

How would people here react if someone said that they intentionally past posted a game obviously trying to win, but they ended up losing it? This person then tried to get his money back from the sportsbook.

Should this person get his money back? Well, the rules state that any bet past posted will be refunded, so this person should get his money back, right? But, for some reason, I don't think this person would get much sympathy or support, and he probably wouldn't get his money back either.

By the way, how many people here have ever gotten a losing wager refunded because of a bad line/past post? Not too many, I'd bet.

well, Reality, Olympic has offered Intertoto game odds - how do they know if a game in Latvia, Albania, or Slovenia starts on time, if no-one else does?

well segundo, the last part of your post was interesting. maybe you could be more specific on which partner it is and how you know this.

i think it only fair to the other partners.

Bookmakers worldwide go by the advertised kick off time.(simple as that)

How could there be 26 replies to this post? I'm all player. But the player has a *little* bit of responsibility. Play a game after it's started, and it is player beware. Honest books will cancel all wagers after the start time; other books, who knows?
