Dukey,
Almost all the past posts come from obscure events. By that I'm not implying that Wimbledon is an obscure event, only that with so many courts and the time differences (most books work on EST) starting times change. Times to take bets for all sports are different. I would book bets on baskets with a 10 point dog winning 10-0 3 minutes into the game, but hockey came off at the scheduled start. Horse racing is the most brutal to book. With twenty tracks running at the same time you use the starting time in the Racing Form. You can't watch every race at every track.
Most books get a feel for their customers they know whose playing and whose trying to take advantage.. on any given saturday during college football there are ten time changes, all published. But every now and then a game starts an hour earlier. Maybe the guy in Nebraska is watching the game on local tv and Don Best is slow on the trigger posting a score, thats a past post. We're not talking about a guy who bets a game at 7:39 that went at 7:35.
Your very critical of books thinking they are out to rob you. The truth is they are trying to beat you. With the advent of the net and 24 hour gambling along with European sports and different time zones the book can't work all those hours himself. What does he do?? He hires people to run his business.
Without some kind of time constraint, his employees friend can make any bet he want's when the game is over.
I've never met Reality, even though we know a lot of the same people, but I would rather have him and a lot of other bookmakers watching my back then some of the players I've met over the years.
You want honorable, Talk to BS from WWTS or Spiro or any of the older PRO bookmakers out there. You keep forgetting that this business used to run the other way. We booked the bets then had to wait to get paid. When we didn't get paid we didn't have these forums to bad mouth our customers.
When someone past posts an office do they come here saying so and so did this. No way..
