and thus the reason I never post here.

First, I did not specifically bet with my rent money. I am not a degenerate gambler betting all my money week after week waiting for the big score. I make a six figure salary and have a very comfortable life. I had earmarked about $2K to play with this month - completely extra. Since I have been doing pretty well, I decided to go on a cruise in December, which I just paid for, using my $1500 a month rent which I had already set aside to pay for the down payment. I was assuming that of course I would get my money back in the next three weeks. So yes, I need this money for rent, or I could sell some stock and pay for it.

Thanks for the encouraging words, you ass. Not that it is any of your business. Gee, you are real helpful.

Don't meddle in things you don't know the facts about. If you had asked me and approached this more diplomatically, it wouldn't have gotten such a response. If you were more helpful in your suggestion, it wouldn;t have gotten a response.

But simply because you have made a million posts to this group, in no way suggests you are an expert on the subject. I know you are revered around here, simply for the time you put in, and I have all of what, 3 posts? So any response like this will be unpopular.

So I will quietly slink back into the background, only coming back to voice my concerns when necessary. Thanks for the confirmation.

... but we all learned in kindergarten that building yourself up by putting others down is no way to live. You should stick to handicapping, and get off the soapbox.

Bromley, don't be too offended, as DrunkenGoon's statement could actually help someone who IS betting with rent money. I'm sure there are plenty of them.

      Take care

Bromley - Sorry if I offended you with that comment. You are correct in saying that I don't know the circumstances but from your initial post it seemed like you lost and were trying to catchup by posting up more money. The you mentioned needing the payback for your rent payment and something clicked... Mea culpa, please accept my appology. The point I was trying to make does not apply to you and your circumstances but it still is a good point and if it helps someone out there I will make it everytime, even if this kind of backlash is possible or probable.

As far as credibility is concerned, who has it and who doesn't isn't something worth discussing here since we're all hiding behind an alias and we don't personally know the people we talk gambling with here.

Enjoy your trip and don't worry about your rent, Olympic is a joint that takes care of their customers.

How bout that. Spiro is a class act by listening and taking care of Bromley and DrunkenGoon is a class act for his humbleness in his appology. Bettorsworld is a great place to be to learn and help one another stay with quality books that will pay when we win since we pay if we loose!
On a separate subject that does NOT have to do with Bromley, I am glad that DrunkenGoon spoke out against betters who 'gamble' by using their rent $.

OK, apology taken. I am sorry that I laid it on rather thick. I was very surprised at your humility and subsequent apology. Most of the posters I know would have jumped into me further and I would have never posted again.

Perhaps your post also hit a little too close to home. Although everything I said above is true, it isn't THAT long ago (maybe 5 years) that I do remember almost losing everything chasing my money. I still blow a ton during any losing streaks that happen my way, but I finally have a job that can support it.

As for the advice, of course it is a good one, but do you really think someone betting the rent money would be swayed by such a plea anyway. I'd be willing to bet 85% of teh gamblers on this site (or at least including the lurkers like me) dont have some solid betting strategy or money management, despite what they think.

I'd be the first to agree that I don't. If I have a couple thousand to play, I might play $500 a game. The next week I might be playing $50 a game. The only difference possibly between the old me and the new me is that when I win, I end up paying bills or investing it, rather than blowing it on stupid toys.

My money management system is simple. When I have the money I can afford to lose, I usually put it in action. When I win, I invest it in stock. When I lose, I suck it up, and don't play until I have more I can afford to lose. I think it works well for me. Even if I just break even, it's as if I invested the money from the start.

As for the alias thing, I agree.. too easy to say anything and not care. No accountability. But I assure you, this is my real name.

            Later.

            Jim Bromley

Bromley - Not to blow my own horn but a good strategy might be following my hockey picks...

Check them out in the Bookies Hell or at www.sentex.net/~amovilea and you'll see what I mean...

The way I look at it is why make enemies when you can make friends... Not even the books are our enemies in this thing... We're all in it for the same reason, if we look at it as a business opportunity we'll eventually come out ahead...

I can honestly say D'Goon is a great capper and I will be looking at his picks when time permits.

Jim, if you can use this board for collections then so can I. I was a St. Louis client while you were in law school and never received money you promised to send before you moving to Arizona. Is there a way to get in touch with you?

I have requested a credit card payout (charge reversal) from Olympic about 2 weeks ago (9 business days). I still didn't get it... Should I start worrying or is 2 weeks or more a normal period of time to wait?

Two weeks is too long, but not too surprising given all the trouble so many have had with the credit card processing companies. I'd let Olympic know that you haven't received it after two weeks.

salak, call accounting. They will have to pay you by check or Western Union because they now have Firecash as their processor instead of Epayment.

                                Hi Salak,

By now everyone knows the mess epayment has created. Please call the upgrades department so we may end your fustration on this matter. If you don't get thru with whoever answers the phone ask for me or Mike. I want to say thanks to you and everyone else that has been patient with this Credit Card nightmare.

                                Regards

                                Spiro
