    1) refund the 1k and tell him if he bets over the limit he will lose it all and if he does it again his account will be closed.

Reality I am a little confused. When did the book realize the bet was for more than 3k, after the game was final. I believe no matter what the rules state the bet must be honored if the customer was not notified before the game started. If the customer places a 4k bet and it is accepted the book cannot void that bet without notifying the customer BEFORE the game starts.

            WARAWARA,

IF THE CUSTOMER WAS NEVER VERBALLY WARNED OF THE 3 DIME LIMIT POLICY,I'M HONORING THE BET.

IF THE CUSTOMER WAS VERBALLY WARNED ABOUT THE 3 DIME LIMIT AND TOOK A SHOT ANYWAY HE IS ONLY GETTING 3 DIMES.

IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN HE IS GETTING HIS ACCOUNT CLOSED...

Reality, even if the customer was warned you still have to honor the 4k, unless you notified him before the game started. The reason being is the book can have a flaw in software and accept every bet under the sun and then tell a guy after the game was over that he only had 3k on it. It is unfair to the player. You want to close his acct thats fine bet a man must be paid on a winning wager.

                WARAWARA,

IF I TALK TO YOU PERSONALLY AND TELL YOU THE LIMIT IS 3 DIMES AND YOU DON'T RESPECT THAT CONVERSATION,THERE IS NO WAY I WILL BE RESPECTING AN OVER LIMIT BET,AND I CONSIDERABLE MYSELF AN HONORABLE INDIVIDUAL...

Reality I understand your point 100%, and anyone who was told by you personally should not be paid, but there are people who are not as honorable as you and will accept the bet with a free shot and hide behind something in the rules not to pay. This is the reason I believe the player must be told before the game that he has no action.

                    WARAWARA,

I'M SURE THERE IS A LESS THAN HONORABLE INDIVIDUAL WHO WOULD PLAY THIS OUT AS YOU DEPICTED.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU ACCEPT A LEGITIMATE BET, MEANING BEFORE POST AND THE PLAYER WAS NEVER WARNED VERBALLY OR IN AN E-MAIL WHICH WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE PLAYER,THE HOUSE IS BOUND TO HONOR THAT BET,NO ANDS,IFS,OR BUTS...

IF THE PLAYER WAS WARNED AS STATED ABOVE,THE PLAYER HASN'T A LEG TO STAND ON TO GET PAID THE PART OF HIS BET THAT WAS OVER THE LIMIT.

                        Fantasy indeed! Adding

                        5) Take the 1k close shop and set up a business the you can actually manage without mucking it up.

The guy placed a wager on the net the book accepted it pay him, the guy placed another wager on the phone you accepted that too, pay him. Shoot the phone clerk, fix the software, but it is not the customers fault your staff / software is slack.

Christ almighty if you can't sort out how much your customers are betting then you probably have more problems than that...

                            BROTHER GUIDO,

                            DON'T BLASPHEME.

                            THAT'S WHERE YOUR WRONG.

BROTHER REALITY DID EXACTLY THIS TO TWO BROTHERS WITH ACCOUNTS IN EXCESS OF FIVE FIGURES WHO WERE PLAYING THE EXACT SAME GAMES AT THE SAME TIME TO CIRCUMVENT THE LIMIT.

THEY WERE GOOD PLAYERS I DIDN'T WANT TO LOSE.

IT WAS DURING BASEBALL,THEY WERE PLAYING THE SAME TOTALS,ONE AFTER THE OTHER,TO CIRCUMVENT THE LIMIT.

DID I MENTION THEY LIVED IN DIFFERENT STATES BUT THE BETS CAME FROM THE SAME COMPUTER.

                            I CHECKED THE I.P. ADDRESS...

If the software allows a bet, it's a bet. The software gives a confirmation of a bet, it's a bet. Don't tell me there's some fine print guideline somewhere else on the site that the player should have known and followed.

The only case in which the sportsbook has a legitimate gripe, IMHO, is if the player tried to play the phone and net (or two phone calls) at the same time.

sportshobby, That is the right answer. As long as the player didn't try to bet on the net and on phone at the same time, the bets must be honored. One former BM of a large store once told me, "if I don't move, just keep pounding it"
