The 'Mercedes 6' live to fight another day!!!

Hampton, now a stone's throw away from the Final Four - and Iona looking to follow them there.

    Kevin,
Why do people play the Lottery, why do people play the slots??? - everyone has a dream and are entitled to make there own choices.

I can't tell you how many people signed up - yes there were some, and good luck to them!

All I can tell you is that when I offered to drive them round for six months we got a lot of interest from our female players.

    Stay lucky,
    Gregg

I have been posting on this Forum for over 2 years, and Eddie is a good friend - as well as Jeff and Brian. As this is an 'open Forum' many of my Posts are my own opinions, as a guy who runs the lines as well as a player.

If my honesty offends, I apologize - but that was never the intention. I post on this Forum and this Forum alone as I respect both the Forum and the guys who post on it.

I also value the input and opinions of the Posters and do act upon their advice where practical.

Long may it continue to be the best in the business.

I think this is a pretty smart way to get some attention for a book...

I mean, in the UK they have odds on all teams winning a soccer championship or getting relegated... Of course you can bet Man U at 1000-1 to get relegated if you choose so.

This is just another offer for a player to reach for the stars and end up with a handfull of dust... whenever Hampton loses next.

If you look at this strictly from a bettor's perspective, it is not as far fetched as a book having odds on Tiger Woods becoming president in the states in the next election, although he won't meet the minimum age requirement. Have a smile and move on...

              Gregg,

Since the tourney is well underway, I would like to comment, or let's say chastize you on this 'no win' customer prop. This is a "bridgejumper special" for all parties concerned. Let's examine the facts and possibilities. Keep in mind the giggles and jokes cease when a wager is accepted.

#1 The true handicap odds on any one of these teams to win is anywhere between a half and one million to one. (I did the math). Your gouging is an obvious cause for your cockiness.

#2 Let's figure your average Mercedes is 60k. The Rolex 10k.

#3 You're silent on the sucker manifest, so we'll assume that 100 'eggs' took up your offer. YOUR LIABILITY STANDS AT 7 MILLION. If Hampton(or any) get 'devine intervention' is your company(former at this time) prepared to pay this?

#4 Bottom line here is customer probably can't win either way. I'm surprised your boss would let you jeopardize his store.

In 1966 a small black school called Texas Western(UTEP), a monstous 'dog the entire tourney, became National Champions.

For a bright guy, you got it backwards. You're trying to win a toothpick with a lumberyard.

                Lighten up people.

Most say its a big ripoff. Superbook offered 500/1 on a field bet of 10 if you play for $100. Do the math on Canbet, it's 80/1 for the same group.

Ronbets says its too risky. Believe me, if one of those teams got to the final four Gregg would be on the phone buying back some of his position. The liability would be a few hundred grand at the most.

Superbook has always shown a little more imagination than most joints, which is great for anyone looking for something different. Give the guy a break and put away the sermons.

                  Bob,
That was uncanny!!! I was just writing my reply when you posted - and I was thinking what to put without offending anyone.

You have saved me a job - and you are exactly right. The only difference is I would have been on the phone should one have reach the 'Elite Eight' - and many joints would have loved the action!!!

Everyone has to cover themselves should the impossible happen, and we would be no different.

I was in Australia a few weeks at the Ericsson Masters Golf, where the sponsors offered a $500,000 prize for a hole-in-one at a particular hole.

With only 2 groups left to go through on the Final day, some young lad called Nathan Green drilled it home - and you would think left the sponsors having kittens.

The truth is I am almost sure they would have insured themselves against this, and left the Insurance Company with egg on their face!!

Not exactly the same as our situation, but I hope you understand the point I am trying to make.

                  Good Luck,
                  Gregg

                    Gregg/Bob,

Hedging rhetoric sounds good as a mental appeaser. Please let me know where I could get down for a "few hundred grand" deep into the tournament to win 5 - 7 million? This ain't football! Especially getting a fair price. Negotiations start with my hole card exposed.

Fair point - but if the liability was up in the region of 7 million then we would already have bet Hampton.

Had we wanted to get rid of a two million liability at the final eight stage, then you are right normally it would be difficult. Some bookmakers are sometimes willing to help others out - if they know the reasons behind the bet.

Victor Chandler is a massive operation - take my word for it we have had these sort of liabilities before, and either taken them on or we are capable of moving some or all of it.

Rest assured anyone who bet the 'Mercedes 10' will receive their Mercedes - if Hampton do the business.

Hampton is getting wiped out by GU. Gregg, who should the suckers root for now? You should refund everyone's $100 with an apology.

That's good marcus...but I think we can all tell what's a good and bad wager after the game's over.

Ronbets, according to you the real odds for each of those ten teams was between 500,000 to 1,000,000 to one. That puts the chances of one of the ten of them winning at between 50,000 to 100,000 to one.

I think even I could take in a bunch of 500 to one wagers on a 50,000 to one event, hedge myself, and still come out ahead. No need to worry about Superbook on that play.

Bob, If you had to wait until all these teams got wiped out to realize this is a sucker bet then you are really lost. Note: If you read all the posts, I had criricized this ridiculous offer before the tournament even started.

NO BOB. DIVIDE 100 BY 10. EACH TEAM WITH $10 TO WIN IT ALL HANDICAPS BETWEEN 500K TO 1 MILLION TO 1 MINUS 9.

Help me Ronbets, I don't read you. I bet 10 bucks on a team at 500,000 to one and I win $5,000,000. I do that ten times I have spent $100. If any one of my teams win then I have put up $100 to win $4,999,910. That's 49,999 to one in my book...unless I'm missing something.
