This is directed primarily toward Reality's post. First, what is the definition of "originator" in light of the fact that there are less than 12 of them in existence. And along those lines, are there any other sources (books, etc) that will give detailed analysis and explanations of the "scene behind the scenes" that some on these forums seem to hint at. Many on this site seem to be on the serious side of weekend warriors, but there are obviously some people operating on an entirely different level. For those of us that are pretty sure that we don't fully understand the intricate details of the daily operations of scalpers, middler, movers, etc and how it all fits together - is there somewhere to read about it? Maybe it is just something where the only way to figure it all out is just to move to Vegas and make it your life, own a sportsbook or be at the top of a syndicate.

Reality - On the issue of why regular players care if true wiseguys get booted, I think it probably goes to the fact that everyone dreams of becoming a huge player. Many people probably think, "what if I am able to start consistently picking winners, build up make bankroll and am able to play thousands per game, and then I can't even get my action taken?"

ORIGINATOR-AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS THE "ORIGINATOR" OF THE PLAYS THAT TURN THE SCREEN BLACK AND EFFECTIVELY WIPE OUT THE NUMBER IN THE ORDER IN THE MARKET PLACE IN A MATTER OF 30 TO 60 SECONDS.

EXAMPLE:

DUKE IS A PAINTED 5 POINT FAVORITE ON THE DON BEST SCREEN.

THE "ORIGINATOR" SENDS OUT AN OPEN ORDER FOR DUKE-5.

AN "OPEN ORDER" MEANS THE ORIGINATOR WILL TAKE ALL THE DUKE-5 THE "MOVERS" CAN GET.

ALL THE DUKE-5 THEY CAN GET.

NO LIMIT!

WHEN THIS ORDER GOES OUT THE DUKE-5 IS WIPED OUT OF THE MARKET PLACE IN A MATTER OF 30 TO 60 SECONDS ON THE SCREEN AND 1 TO 2 MINUTES IN THE ENTIRE MARKET PLACE.

THE NEW NUMBER IS DUKE-6 OR -6.5.

I am certainly neither an originator or a wiseguy in Reality's definition, yet I encounter all sorts of "different" treatment at many sportsbooks. I'm sure that there are other players that see the same thing.

IF A BOOK SLOWS YOU UP ON THE PHONE WHEN PLAYING,TALK TO THE MANAGER.

IF THIS CONTINUES,CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT.

IF YOU ARE EVER HELD UP BECAUSE YOU ARE WINNING AND NOT BETTING AND THE SCREEN GOES BLACK 15 SECONDS AFTER YOU HANG UP THE PHONE,CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT.

THERE ARE A PLETHORA OF HONORABLE BOOKS WHO WANT YOUR BUSINESS AND WILL HONOR THE LINE THEY QUOTE YOU AND HONOR THE WAGER THEY ACCEPT FROM YOU.

THEY JUST MAKE A BUSINESS DECISION TO EXCLUDE MOVERS AND POSSIBLY SCALPERS.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN "SUCKERS ONLY" AS SOME POSTERS WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE.

FORGET THESE BIG BONUS SHOPS WHO BY VIRTUE OF THEIR OUTRAGEOUS BONUSES ARE GAMBLING WITH YOUR MONEY RIGHT OFF THE HOP.

WHY ARE THEY OFFERING SUCH OUTRAGEOUS BONUSES?

THEY ARE TRYING TO EXPAND THEIR CUSTOMER BASE.

DO YOU WANT TO TRUST YOUR FUNDS TO AN UPSTART BOOK WITH OUTRAGEOUS BONUSES WHO MAY OR MAY NOT ANSWER THE BELL TOMORROW?

OR WOULD YOU PREFER TO TAKE LESS OF A BONUS WITH AN ESTABLISHED SHOP BUT GET THE GREATEST BONUS OF ALL.
