We know little about them. We strongly suggest you stick with the BWORLD books. no need to take chances.

If you're a recreational player, you probably use 3-4 books tops. You'd be out of your mind to use any books but the ones that have been tried and tested like WWTS and WSEX. It's a no brainer.

If you're a wiseguy and have to spread your money around, then I guess you can afford to take chances on a new book. Just like several of us took chances with the Dunes last year.

Dragon, that's the best advice I've seen posted here in a long time. Novices and most of the public should without a doubt stick to the tried and true sites listed on this site. Wiseguys perhaps can afford the risk of a new site, in order to get lines not found elsewhere.

            YanksFan,

My name is Mark DelPopolo and I am the Manager at Camelot Sportsbook. Thank you for making an inquiry into Camelot. If you are not familiar with me, I posted on this site as "MarkDel" for nearly an entire year when I was still working for GamePlan Magazines in New York, but I have not posted here since leaving to take this position with Camelot offshore. Both Jeff and Brian know who I am and I am somewhat puzzled by their response here, but I defy them or anyone else on this site to find ONE person who has had a problem getting paid or even a minor problem with customer service here at Camelot.

While we have been in business for a short period of time, the owners of this site are well know to many in the sportsbook industry and we do NOT book beyond our means. I would mention the MANY other fine sights where we advertise on the internet, but I would assume that any such references would be edited out if I named these sites by name.

It's funny that one of the criticims in this thread focused on the Dunes in light of the fact that the Dunes WAS an advertiser at this site and remained as one long after the reports of non-payment became public.

While I would generally agree with Brian's assessment that you cannot go wrong sticking with the established books with good reps, one has to remember that those books were not always established, and if you adhere to the policy Brian has suggested above, NO new sportsbook would ever have even ONE customer and players would lose valuable wagering options. I would recommend securing objective information from multiple sources before you reach your decsion about Camelot or any other sportsbook that you have never dealt with before. This is just good common sense...also, if you do open with a new book, keep your deposits small and seek frequent payouts until you feel truly comfortable with them. All of this is a more sensible alternative to the option Brian has presented above which would limit you to 4-5 books overall.

If you did see the other site where we garnered more votes than the other books you mentioned, then you realize that there were too many votes for those to be so-called "shills" and we are obviously doing something right despite the negative comments you have read above. Check out our website, play with the guest account and perhaps you will consider us as a future option. If you, or any other objective poster on this site, has a specific question about Camelot, please feel free to call us at 1-877-873-2049 and ask for Mark D.

Opened an account at Camelot, great options and props. Reminds me of 5 Dimes and Olympic for the variety being offered. I believe it's going to get bigger in their offerings. They have tons of matchups, lines not the same as others. Definetely not just a 'wise guy' book, will be one of my outs for football. Hopefully, they have a deposit bonus before football season.

While I agree one may be somewhat apprehensive to start with new book I have found them right up there with 5dimes as a must for a golf out.Their customer service has been outstanding. Will they be here next year? I sure am not qualified as some to make that judgement but have found Mark to go the extra mile to put up lines for us golf punters in particular and I will absorb any risk out of gratitude. Of course I am a recreational better with no exhorbant amounts at risk which is an entirely different perspective than most.I have only been with them a little over a month but have been extremely pleased.Again this is only my opinion and should be taken as such.

A couple of great points made in this thread......

                    1) Dragons point about newbies....with so many players afraid to send their money offshore, your alternatives are some of the biggest most successful sportsbooks in the world. Sportsbooks that have been around the block and back.

                    2) Mark Del makes a fantastic point.....don't take one persons, or one sites word for anything. Things may not always be what they seem.

We wish Camelot and Mark all the luck/success in the world in their inaugural football season.

well, based on all this it appears that i will stick here. mark, when you have proven yourself or have more than one website who strangely votes you before intertops, wsex and others it is reason for concern on anybody's list. thanks jeff.

                        Yanksfan,

It's odd that that's what you inferred from Jeff's comments. Your use of the word "strangely" is also odd in light of the fact that two respected Bettorsworld posters came in here to say positive things about their experiences at Camelot. Perhaps Railbird and Pnanda made this up???

I would have mentioned the other sites where we are endorsed, but as I stated, those references would have been deleted. You could have taken up on my offer to check out our website or contact us by phone or e-mail to gain more information, but you have aapparently chosen not to do so.

Also, if the implication in your use of the word "strangely" implies some collusion between Camelot and that site (and now as I reread Jeff's seemingly neutral post I see that it's possible you inferred this)you can ask anyone out there "in the know" on the sportsbook side of things and they will tell you that I am NOT part of that site and that site hhas NO interest in my sportsbook.

                        Jeff,

Could you please clarify to Yanksfan that your statement was a general agreement with my statement and not an implication that Camelot is in collusion with MW.

                        Thank You

                        Mark D.

                          Mark

a few things you and camelot should be aware of. Jeff i am sure will echo this later as he is not currently available.

                          1) we BOTH firmly believe that BEFORE anyone would consider playing with your book that it uses an established bettorsworld book. We have good business relationships with them and can many times resolve problems with them.

                          2) we are very leary of the association you have with MW. we are also concerned for players who have signed up with camelot based on that association.

                          3) bworld has continually been bashed even now on that web site for no apparent reason other than we "ban" malcontents. that is our choice. find another good reason. posters like moneywiz88, johnny detroit and a few others we ousted so mw could have them. we are very happy to rid ourselves.

                          4) bettorsworld will continue to promote the BEST books in the industry as we have done over the past 5 years. we will also FROWN on books who believe that bettorsworld is less than what it really is. it shows a sign of weakness in the book.
we don't like weak books. its dangerous. its a risk.
we minimize risk by sending people to SOS, MEGA, ACES GOLD and more. we have no shortage of great books that pay.

When a book is continually promoted on one web site while the others wane, it raises a flag.
when any web site has as its #1 mission to destroy another site like ours thats another BIG flag.

We simply have a problem all around.

                            Brian,

So if I am to understand correctly, you are implying that MW owns an interest in Camelot Sportsbook which is why they promote us so much...you are also implying that we cannot be trusted because we do not "value" the significance of Bettorworld enough which shows us to be a "weak link book" in your estimation.

                            1. Camelot DOES get a lot of publicity at MW and it is created by ME not the site owners. You know that to be true just as you know it to be true that Fred and Russ do not have an interest in Camelot. The promotion i Get at MW is because of ME and anyone in this business can tell you that.

As for others in this business, if you care to speak with other sportsbooks they will tell you that they maintain a relationship with Camelot, doing transfers as well as other business. Ask Spiro at Olympic, ask William or Butch at Carib, ask David at Cascade, ask Billy at WWTS, ask Dan at Casablanca, ask Peter at Grand Central, ask Mickey at Cris, ask Benny at Loose Lines, ask Brian from Wit, etc...ask any sportsbook that has done business with Camelot if we have EVER done anything wrong and if they are confident in their relationship with us. Also ask ANY player that has ever played with us..they will have NOTHING bad to say.

It's funny that you mentioned Mega in your last post. I have only had one chance to deal with them (sportsbook transfer from them to Camelot) and I can say that they acted VERY professionally and I'm certain they will say the same about me...but they are a new sportsbook too, and you have NO problem promoting them while trashing Camelot.

What is the distinction between Mega and Camelot that causes you to endorse one and trash another???

                            1. Camelot does NOT pay you to advertise here while Mega does.
                            2. Camelot is friends with MW and Mega is not.

Do you really expect people to believe your implication that Camelot is a scam book because they have underestimated the "value" of Bettorsworld???

You said in your last post that you have a problem...well that was the only accurate thing you stated in that post...you DO have a problem.

The difference between MEGA nad you as far as bettorsworld is concerned is NOT the fact they are an advertiser here. its the fact that we do not know enough about your book for us to consider it as a trustworthy book.
we DO have a good relationship with mega and feel very comfortable ith that book. we have many books that are NOT advertisers on Bettorsworld that when asked our opinion would give a recommendation. we cannot say that about camelot.

mega is friends with another web site that we have had problems with but that does not change our opinion of that book. it has nothing to do with who you associate with. however, bworld believes our product is quality and deserves the respect of other sites such as mw.

we will have no choice but to believe that a strong affiliation with mw is a sign of weakness in the book. as people continually post about bworld in a negative fashion on that site and you act as a ringleader of that same sight we cannot even consider your book as anything more than a book who preys on the ignorant posters of mw who have nothing else to discuss except fabrications about our web site.

bettorsworld has many many great books on its site and be assured we will promote these books to the hilt.

if camelot is looking for an endorsement from us they are looking in the wrong place.
it won't happen until we feel it is deserved. right now we don't see it.
