  • Neteller and Pay Pal fees

I'm trying to compile a table with all fees associated with Neteller and Paypal. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these or if there's any info I should include.

    Sending:

    Neteller:
    Bettors: free
Merchants: 2% up to a maximum of $30.

    Pay Pal:
    Bettors: free
    Merchants: free

    Receiving:

    Neteller:
    Bettors: free
    Merchants: 3.9%

    Pay Pal:
    Bettors: free
    Merchants: 2.2% + 30c

    Maximum amount per transaction:
    Neteller: $2500
    Pay Pal: ??? anyone?

    Discounts:
Neteller offers volume discounts for merchants.
Pay Pay offers a 0.7% + 30c fee for Pay Pal preferred merchants (any books reached this status?)

    Transfers between friends:
You can also transfer between friends at both places. Neteller charge is 1.95% rounded up to the rearest dollar, $1 minimum charge. You can send between $15-5000. Pay Pal transfers between friends (standard members) are free. Anyone know the limits involved (doesn't matter in this case, might be of use to Premier clients)?

    Customer service:
As far as customer service is concerned, Neteller has top customer service, on par with the best of sportsbooks. Pay Pal on the other hand has had bad reports.

    Availability:
Neteller is more widely available than Pay Pal with regards to sportsbooks. Neteller concentrates on the sportsbetting industry while Pay Pal seems to be focused on internet auctions.

Anyone know why Pay Pal says that Premier accounts are for those with a high transactional volume? I think the opposite is the case unless they will be using a CC. Also, I don't include any info on which is better/easier to use with US bank accounts as I moved my banking offshore 3 years ago.

Cons, this is a really good topic for bettors. I have mostly experience with NETeller, maybe because it was more widely accepted in the beginning. But I was also under the impression that PayPal fees to the player were in some cases significant.

One should remember that fees can come from two sources: first, from the money transfer service (NETeller, PayPal); and then from the sportsbook as they pass along those fees to the customer. I typically pay $15 per transaction for NETeller withdrawals, even though some sportsbooks such as Canbet does not charge their customers.

I agree, charges made by sportsbooks are just as important. I think it would be helpful to create a table depicting each sportsbook's policy with regards to Neteller. I'll start working on one shortly.

Paypal´s customer service is really bad.
I´ve opened an account and transfered funds from a book and then a question according my credit card arose.
I logged in and used the provided mail format and after two days I have received an automatic answer that helped absolutly not - then because there was a signature to this answer I replied and then the guy told me that I must log in and use the mail format - I did what I was told and two days after that I´ve got the same automatic answer like the first time....
Because I could imagine what would had happened next I´ve given up and don´t use them anymore.

Neteller answers my mails within in minutes and because I´m depending on a reliale E-mail service I am happy with them.

According Neteller withdrawl fees I can only speek from books where I´ve made withdrawls
        - WSEX totally free, canbet (over 400$) free
        - pinnacle, bet******* one per month free
        - Yabet 10$, caribsports 20$

I wish Pay Pal accepted Neteller as payment and the other way around as well! That would sure make things easier! :D

I don't know much about Netteller, but I can guarantee you that receiving money via Paypal is "free" only to a point, and that point is reached very quickly. The specifics are on their ever changing "terms of service" on their website. The bottom line is that despite the initial lure of an account "free of fees", the service is set up so that as the transactions accumulate, it becomes tougher and tougher for you to maintain the "free" part........and you will get to a point very quickly where you can't send, receive or withdraw money until you upgrade your account to one of their 2 "pay" accounts (Premier or Business). Trust me, unless you're moving $50, $70 at a time, the "free personal acct" is very temporary. I've been using paypal for almost 2 yrs. It's an incredibly convenient service, but with some serious deficiencies. I wonder sometimes whether the books really realize how exposed they are to customer chargebacks when they take a Paypal (credit card funded) deposit.

You're so right, PayPal's customer service is horrible.......Email system sucks, and they have no phone number to contact anyone there. It's my damn money, and I should be able to talk to someone there if there's a problem.
I transferred money there on a Tues. at 9am, according to there table, it should have been there by Monday I believe, it took til Thurs of the following week.... I have a verified bank acct. and the money came out of my acct on that Thursday. So it took 7days for my money to go from my bank to them....
They suck, and I'll never use them again. I was so angry not being able to talk to someone, and the BS formatted email responses suck too.

Actually there is a customer service phone number......but it's only available to premier and business acct customers. Free personal acct holders do not get that as part of their service. If anyone needs the number, I can find it and post it.

Hi Bert, did the problems with Pay Pal arrise when you used your credit card with them or did they happen during normal Pay Pal transactions? When I registered my CC with them they actually charged me twice. Not a good start...

I agree with everyone here that Neteller is tops. Customer service is immaculate and it's the most widely accepted payment system with regards to sportsbooks.

                    Cons,
my question was if it´s possible to verify the account without using a credit card - with the most books and Neteller it works if I fax them a copy of my driver license.....
It was not important that this doesn´t work with paypal (I have not expected so), but that I was not able to get an answer (a simple NO would have been enough to make me happy)
I´ve finally registered my cc, but don´t use them anymore, because if there should be a problem in the future it will for sure be complicated.

I agree, if you can't talk or even write to someone and receive a personal reply (not some fixed, generated email) then it's not worth the hassle. And the premier account for which there is apparently a phone number is not worth it as you would be paying money for receiving funds.

Bert, one thing that has been mentioned here and I think is a good idea, is to open a seperate bank account just for use with neteller or pay pal.

There appears to be considerable confusion regarding the fees that PayPal charges.

We have varying prices for merchants (both on sending and receiving, depending on what features are used, etc...).

BUT there are never any Paypal fees for a "Player" (whether the player has a Personal, Premier, or Business Account) when transacting with a gaming merchant.

For example, if you are a PayPal auction seller, you may be paying 2.2-2.9% to receive your auction payments...but if you receive a payout from a gaming merchant, the fee is suppressed.

I hope this clears some things up.

                          Thanks,
                          Ryan

Ryan Back in days when you & Neteller were interactive I signed with both of you.Thinking it was best to link from my checking account with you due to $100,000 insurance and have Neteller to transfer with books since more books took them. However shortly after the two of you severed relations.I felt it longer necessary for both of you and tried to cancel my account with paypal and withdraw my checking account from their history(no use in having it system after oly fiasco). To this date have still be unable to get account with you closed and have gotten no responses to email.Had to close my account and open new one for your lack of customer service. And as not to pick on you, Neteller customer service is no better.

I'm beginning to feel like the only Paypal satisfied customer.

I've used Paypal for quite some time on Ebay and never had any trouble. Funding the account, verifying bank accounts, credit cards, all an easy process if you take time to read how it all works.

I also use Paypal to handle subscriptions, shopping carts and donations to a site I support http://www.junglefriends.org. (Any donations you guys can afford are appreciated! Read what we do there, it is quite impressive. AND donations help fund educational programs for kids which are terrific!) So far, all works well. We use it on America's Line for subscriptions to our Optimizer program...again all is well.

I've transferred money both ways without any difficulty. The fees are high for small transaction amounts but reasonable overall for what you get. I don't need merchant accounts and get automatic notification of every transaction immediately. Plus they insure the funds AND pay interest!

I've never used Neteller but have no reason to explore since I'm doing okay with Paypal.

Also - I had one dispute with someone that I paid that never delivered merchandise through Ebay. Followed Paypal's e-mail instructions and was told they would resolve within 30 days. They did and I got my money back. I've never had to talk to a single person...again if you read and understand how the site works, you should do just fine.
