  • Baseball Contest Anyone ??????????

I just spoke with Jeff (The Boss) and he said we could have a MLB contest. If you have an idea or would like to keep score, please chime in. A few ideas would be:

Game of the Week............but that limit's us to just one pick.

    5 games a week..........or something like that.

    Let's hear some ideas guys...........

        FSU123 and The Boys.

Several years ago, on another site, I participated in a weekly baseball contest that ran from the start of the regular season to the All Star break. Each week, Monday - Sunday, had to select 2 games - one SU and the other over/under. Used the Pinny lines for the over/under. The tie breaker, if necessary, was the All Star Game and total score.

If my math is correct, the above format would involve about 14 - 15 weeks. With each win 1 point, a possible total score of 28 - 30 points and, if necessary, the All Star game for the tie breaker. Would need to select a sports book for the over/under line and it would need to be posted daily, unless selected days were agreed upon for the plays. I would be willing to assist with the scorekeeping, unless someone else willingly wants to do it. I have the rules from the college bowl contest which could be modified for this contest.

        Just my 2 cents, whatever…

One more thought, perhaps just do the weekend games, Friday, Saturday, ad Sunday. This would involve selecting three games, 2 SU and 1 over/under. Contestants could select all three on one day or select one each day, whatever combination of three games. If you apply the All Star break as the end of the contest, this would score out to a possible total score of about 42 - 45 points for each win

The issue will be religiously posting the daily lines in a timely fashion and scorekeeping. Which from past experiences on this site, as you are aware, has resulted in some problems.

          Again, I'm willing to assist

          Just my 2 cents.....

I like this idea. Base the plays on $100 wagers. I wouldnt mind doing the record keeping for a while.

That shouldnt take more than 5 minutes a day. I can spare 5 minutes for the cause.

OK.......laxfo99 and Monroe Eaford, if you two don't mind keeping score why don't we go with the Pick 3 weekend way. Make 3 picks from the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games. Maybe sides only would be the best way to go. Let's keep it simple for scoring reasons. What do you think?

                    The Boys

With 3 sides only, my concern would be that the favs would continually be selected. I know from experience that the favs don't always win in the long daily MLB season. With 1 under/over pick thrown in the mix it just makes it more interesting. However, I'll go along with whatever is decided.

Also, I assume that the contest will run through the July 12th All Star game??? Football, we hope, starts in early August????? To get more particpants, suggest MLB contest start weekend of April 8 - 10.

Anyone else, want to chime in on how the 3 weekend picks should be set up - sides only or combo with o/u.

Thanks Boys for contacting Jeff and getting the ball rolling.

Jeff left it up to us to put it together. So, I'm game on the 2 sides and one o/u pick. Agree, think we run the contest up to the All Star game, that's plenty long enough. If we don't hear any other input we'll run it according to your game plan, thanks.

OK. We'll wait to hear from any others today. If no suggested comments, I will post draft rules tomorrow morning (modified from previous college and pro contest rules) for comment. Bettorsworld MLB 2011 contest will begin weekend of April 8 - 10, 2011.

I'm sure the question will come up sooner than later - Any prizes involved in winning or placing in the top 2 or 3 at the end of the contest?

Once again, thanks for contacting Jeff and Bettorsworld support.

There will be a small prize or prizes, just not sure yet. I'll talk to Jeff about that so you can list it in the rules.

I want to participate, but I think we need to find a compromise on the
over/under pick. Just seems like a lot for our record keepers to have to post
each weekend day. Don't have a specific answer. Maybe, weekend for sides
and then Friday for sides and the day we pick o/u game????
If I come across any other options I'll post later on today. Thanks Boys.

baseball is tought for contests and records bc of so many games and options. Wonder if we could make our contest picks at the www.sports-bettors.com and then it would be kept for us and then we could make out plays whenever. Just an idea. That is BW sports monitor service.
