Thanks for responding. If the final decision to post picks is for this site, do you want to include a required weekend ML underdog pick? The 3 picks could be :
1) SU = 1 pt
2) O/U = 1 pt or 1/2 point tie
3) ML Underdog greater than +130 or whatever is designated = 2 points

Thank you big time for getting the ball rolling and initiating the contest with Jeff.
The forum posting does drop way off during the late spring and early summer and this should rev it up. Also, lot of folks don't feel comfortable wagering on MLB. This will provide a learning experience for some and for the pros a platform to show case their capping skills.
I'll post the rules with the following scoring criteria on Wednesday morning:
1) SU Win = 1 pt
2) O/U Win = 1 pt or 1/2 point tie
3) ML Underdog greater than +130 Win = 2 points
Starting today and thru Thursday, I'll be posting a daily test of the scheduled games and lines.
Thanks again and Jeff Adm Bettorsworld.

That's a good compromise. We definitely want to help Jeff promote the site and keep it active. I was only pushing for sports-bettors.com for scorekeeping and Jeff suggested copying those picks to the site. But this latest criteria simplifies the scoring and keeps everything on the site.
The only question is what FSU brings up. Since we all HAVE to pick an underdog, do we really want to give it 2 points, because then it really becomes an underdog picking contest with that kind of weighting. With that weighting on the scoring, the one who picks the most underdogs right will most likely be the winner.

Getting closer to the opening weekend for the Bettorsworld MLB Contest. A couple of folks have commented on the scoring. Based on their comments, we’re down to the following 2 scoring options. Anyone else wants to comment before final posting of the rules tomorrow.
The 3 weekend games MUST be selected in this way: 1 Straight Up (SU), 1 OVER/UNDER (O/U), and 1 Underdog Money Line (ML) + 130 or greater from scheduled weekend Friday – Sunday MLB games. Wins and ties will be scored as follows:
- Straight Up (SU) Win = 1 point
- Over/Under (O/U) Win = 1 point and a tie = ½ point.
- Money Line (ML) Underdog + 130 or Greater Win = 2 points
OR
- Straight Up (SU) Win = 1 point
- Over/Under (O/U) Win = 1 point and a tie = ½ point.
- Money Line (ML) Underdog + 130 or Greater Win = 1 point

I don't see why not. E.g., Cleveland +155 vs NY Yanks -165 OVER UNDER 9
Pick Cleveland SU
Pick Cleveland ML Underdog +155
Pick Cleveland vs NY Yanks Over 9
Do you think it's not fair and the rule should be SU and ML Underdog should be separate games?

My second thought on your question. When I responded, I was initially thinking along football betting where one can wager both ML and SU (ATS). My experience with sportsbook wagering on baseball is you would only bet on the ML underdog. Perhaps there are some sportsbook who do allow such type of betting, don't know. If I'm wrong someone can correct me.
So, bottomline, two separate picks need to be made for the Bettorsworld 2011 MLB Contest, that is, 1 for the SU amd 1 for the ML underdog +130.
