I find everything quite interesting in this thread. Hard to tell who's right here... only time will tell. Just one thing I have to comment on.
mls: You said "[QUOTE]Originally posted by mls:

I am not an United States citizen, although I am American (Central American to be exact). In my country we also recognize brains, nerve and ingenuity. I know you didn't mean to offend, but remember that people from various countries read these threads.

      Hmm,

that post didn't look like something that was not to be offensive though

even if Ray is American, eh? Texas residence notwithstanding.

Neither SB or BW is who I was refering to. SB is one of my closest friends and I never had even a slngle problem wiyh BW. I thought you were rating them...Scotty

scott- your right I was guessing about who the 2 guys were. I thought SB passed away? Also can you comment or share stories regarding your experiences regarding Dave Cokin, Ken White, Dave Malinsky and Russ Culver. I heard that the latter 2 are sharp bettors who play for a living, White is sharp but he does'nt bet his own money and Dave Cokin is a $20 grocery dollar player. Cokin is the one that bugs me the most because he talks such a good game on the radio and tv shows and to find out he does'nt even put his money where his mouth is irks me.

Actually I haven't had time to check in detail - I cannot imagine bugs not arising over the first couple of weeks so I decided to wait until May 1st. I know books are now being added. I plan on checking in detail and deciding on May 1st whether to go exclusively with instantodds.com and the books on their screen.

                Ok, cool.

Thanks for keeping us posted. You going to do a review in May then?

                Cheers,

                  Scott,

Very interesting reading. I was aware of many of you efforts and ideas. We used to participate in the baseball lottery every morning at the Stardust and then we'd play at the Riviera and Hilton. I liked the publication that you printed for handicappers for a few years, what was it called?

I am surprised, with your experience, talents, and contacts, no offshore operation has snapped you up.

                  Good Luck,

                  Bazooka

bbuster...No contest. Kenny White is a big favorite over the other 3. He was on my payroll at the Stardust as a handicapper. At the beginning of one basketball season we were down over $200,000 the first 6 days and it was looking bleak. The #s were horrible. I asked Pete White to help me out. He told me Kenny, his son , was doing all the work now. Pete is one of the best handicappers I know. He was also the worst money manager I know. Pete could win 16 out of 18 and lose $$. So I talked my boss into using Kenny and we were out in a week. He works very, very hard and I know what to do with his #s. That was the difference. You must understand him & his Dad or their #s will get you in trouble. Pete White was way ahead of his time. In 1973 Pete put out a Football Book that was incredible in a time before we had computers. I still have it. Of course Kenny is automated now. Kenny has won quite a # of contests, he has some high profile clients and he has been known to bet his own $$$. Mabey now he doesn't need to...Scotty

Scott-Its interesting to see your perspective, I have heard from others that Pete is the real brains in the family in regards to sports betting and kenny is the one with a big ego and seeks adulation from others, but unlike your experiences with him mine are second hand.

bazooka...Was I still at the Stardust when you bet in the mornings? I left Nov 91. That was some joint while it lasted. It will never be duplicated. It was unique in that both house & player were beneficiaries.
I was offered a spot in the Carribean before the offshores took off. My wife and I seriously considered the offer but decided against it.
With the climate in this country & the hypocrits & demagogues in Washington more than a few of us may seek a different atmosphere...Scotty

                          bbuster,

The four individuals you mentioned would not be considered professional bettors. By that I mean they don't depend on their betting income as their sole means of support. They are though involved in the industry in one fashion or another. That is why their names are so prominent. These individuals though are intelligent fellows in their own right but being a professional gambler is a whole different ballgame.

Most professionals tend to keep a low profile for reasons such as tax evasion, security risks and to discourage people from knowing their business. Also they don't receive paychecks from anybody although one would come in handy once in awhile. At some point though you can become so successful that everyone knows who you are although that isn't by choice. B.W. and the Poker Players would probably rather nobody even know they existed. Pete White became well-known also for his brilliance although not on such a huge scale.

There are professional bettors who contribute to this site though. It's pretty easy to tell who they are. And as you can see they prefer the cloak of anonymity although Reno is the exception here. But he's destined for bigger and better things than a sports betting career. He's an outstanding writer who will someday make his mark in that field as he has in sport gambling.

bazooka...That publication was called The Stardust Sports Registry. It was a combination schedule and sports information/archive type of publication. The players loved it...Scotty

                              Scotty,

If I remember correctly, the Stardust Sports Registry existed for two or three years. It was very informative and entertaining. Your ideas for educating your customer base were way ahead of their time.

We played the lottery through the 91 baseball season. The 'big' players in the morning, aside from us, were S.B. and A.D.

                              Good Luck,

                              Bazooka

With absoluetly no disrespect intended and with sincerest best wishes for success, this is an out bet.

It will be a very long time before someone bring's to the market a product that can compete with Don Best on all levels.

I would compare this to WATERMELON COMPUTER COMPANY trying to wrestle the market share from MICROSOFT
