    Phaedrus,
Should one use Microsft "Word" or their own word processing program? I personally like the idea of using the same software because once you learn it-you're done. WSEX is really cool stuff but there are some others out there that will give it a good run. www.OasisCasino.com is good too. So is WWTS.

There are some advantages to having similar software amongst the books. For example, if you play at several books, there's less to remember. Also, learning a new one is easier.

JC, WSEX is one of my favorites for speed and intuitive operation. The only thing I don't like is having to scroll over several pages to see the odds. I'd like to have a more compact view, so that I could see all the MLB or NFL games on one screen, for example.

What you are saying is true, except when your business is selling word processors...

The word is that the Iowa boys are really mad because I posted here. Maybe the internet bandwith will be better by the weekend. If it is not, I'll post their names here Sunday night with phone numbers.

still curious about your connection to any of the offshores Offshore Snoop???

anyway, as a player, what i care about (after security, honesty and ability to pay) is that on Saturday morning when i want to wager with MY money, i can

the book should be smart enough to partner with reputable people, choose and install appropriate software and provide the communication links to their customers

if not, i'll find someone who can

and by the way, i'm not at all interested in what happens in Iowa or $25 parlay restitutions

I am seriously not connected to any sports book. I play at a few and I got really mad Saturday and almost had a heart attack on Sunday. This same thing happened last year. It is a ridiculous thing. The Iowa thing is so stupid. These sports book owners spend 100's of thousands of dollars in ads and bonuses and then the people that sign up can't play. I really feel that they do have good intentions. Unlike those corn fed morons from Iowa.

Think about this guys: For a moment, let's take different #'s, scalping, and the importance of having multiple outs (ie different lines) out of the equation. All of the sportsbooks in the list below are basically the same. Although they all offer slightly different options (diff teaser odds, more/less props, ability to buy a 1/2 point, etc), they are ALL going to pay, they all have proven their integrity, and are all safe and solid shops. The concept is the same. Bettor places wager. Bettor wins money or bettor loses money.

Where the difference lies, however (and it's a big one) is their accessability and their online software. Some are great, most stink. Whether or not the phone clerk is an ass or is friendly is overrated. This is at the bottom of my wish. I don't care if the phone clerk "had a sexy voice" or not. That's not the reason I'm a customer. To be able to place bets WHEN I want with MY money (hastle-free as possible) IS. If I cannot do this AT ANY TIME and/or (assuming i DO get in) it takes 12 minutes to place a wager with a no-good ISP or crappy software, then they are of no use to me.

Pending a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, there is no excuse for these books to be 5 years behind the times. Stop sending 5X7 cards via mail, get rid of some of the overhead, or cut something else out. But, for God's sake, don't go looking for a bargain on service and software. Get yourself a reliable ISP and take the time and spend the money to develop your OWN unique software. If WSEX and Olympic and some of the other books that were mentioned can do it, then they all can. As far as WSEX is concerned, what makes their software so good is that there are no bells and whistles, no fancy shmancy graphics. Just a plain, vanilla interface. 4 simple little boxes that allows their customers to accomplish what they intended to when they chose to use their service in the first place: To place a wager.

I don't know if it's out of laziness or whether it's trying to scrimp to save a buck, but the old saying holds true: "You get what you pay for."

junior...well said as your post reflects the thoughts (i'm sure) of 85% of the guys in here

offshore...lets see, you play a few books but you know all the details and history of the iowa connection and you never were compelled to post here before until this issue arose

your posts read like your a shill for a book

just read junior's post and forget about excuses and good intentions

JD, I agree about Oasis. The software at Oasis is just as good as WSEX and Olympic. Their site was running real smooth at crunch time on Sunday. I can see that they get high volume by looking at my confirmation numbers.

To get WSEX and WWTS bets faster bookmark the link to the sport you want. For example, MLB at WSEX is: http://www.wsex.com/line/BASEBALL.html

                        and at WWTS: http://onlinebook.betwwts.com/scripts/ssol/ssol.dll/mlb

At both places you get a new window for the amount you bet, and the window with the lines stays open. So you just make the bet on the new window and close it and select next game from the lines window.

This is quite a fast way and at WWTS you can skip all the unnecessary phases like the balance confirmation

Some of you people don't have a clue! You slam everyone about their software, but what you don't know is there aren't alot of programmers out there stepping in to the plate to design gambling software. The designer of the QnX system (which alot of book use) is in jail right now for aiding and abbeting. It's the same thing with the phones, you think ATT wouldn't want 100 sportsbooks with a 20 dime a month bill with them. They can't touch us! Guys, it's not so easy as paying for the best technology. We would, believe me. We have to go with the best we can right now.

                            AzB,
I came here with one intention. To force the issue with the Iowa clowns. I am not a shill whatever that is. I want everyone to get along and operate together.* I don't usually get on these forums but this past weekend made me sick. I play with a few places-maybe I shouldn't have brought this up.

                              Another thing to consider:
I know of a big sportsbook (I won't mention the name because this was embassering) that had on-line software designed for them. After a while they realized that they were losing a lot of money on baseball. They couldn't figure it out. Then, they ran reports before each game and again after the game was final. They were different. What was happening was the programmers had left a backdoor into the system and had opened accounts and would get into the system in a way that let them play games when they were in the 9th inning. These guys stole a ton from this book before they were found out. So the other question is: who do you trust to design your software? Again guys, it ain't the money, we would gladly pay for a good system, but what is a good system?

In the know, out of curiosity was it nasa? I think all sports books are very vulnerable when they first go online. There are so many hackers out there who love to just prey on new sites and see how good security is. It can also be programmers from other books trying to put new books out of commission before they even get started.
