Our Annual Turkey Day Teaser - It's time for our annual Turkey Day Teaser. Thanksgiving Day is one of the few times during the course of the year where we say it's ok to let your guard down, ok to be a little bit of a degenerate and actually wager on, well, a suckers bet. Why? Simply because having a little wager on the Turkey Day games is just as much a tradition as, well, the Turkey itself!
Black Cat Thanksgiving - The Black Cat has some plays posted already for this week and two of those plays are on Thanksgiving Day Games!

NFL Week 11 Totals Power Ratings - A weekly feature from handicapper Jamie Tursini
November 20, 2009
Key Release - Air Force At BYU - This is the time of year where you can take some of the guesswork out of handicapping. Early season handicapping requires lots of assumptions. You dig into each team, make judgment calls on their talent and so on and so forth. By this time in the year however, you have some facts to deal with.
LSU vs Ole Miss - Both LSU and Ole Miss have not had the season both were hoping for, but there is still plenty left for both teams to prove this Saturday. Both teams had dreams of making it to Atlanta for the SEC Title Game, but with how great Alabama is playing right now there is no shame in not accomplishing that goal.
Ohio State Favored by 12 over Michigan in "THE GAME" - The 2009 college football season is quickly approaching its end which can only mean one thing, its time for Ohio State vs. Michigan. The rivalry known as "The Game" is one of the biggest rivalry games there is in college football. The first Michigan vs. Ohio State game was played back in 1897 and was won by Michigan 36-0.
2009 SEC Football Championship Betting - The NCAA football schedule hits Week 12 and already attention is focused on the SEC Championship game, to be played a couple of weeks from now. It will, barring a complete disaster, be a matchup between the #1 Florida Gators and the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide.
Stanford looks to keep Rose Bowl Hopes Alive vs Cal - Few teams have been as hot as Stanford over the last few weeks. After losing back to back games to Oregon State and Arizona, Stanford has pulled out three straight wins over Arizona State, Oregon, and USC. In their last game against The Men of Troy Stanford took it to them from start to finish and won 55-21.
North Carolina and BC Tangle with ACC Title Implications - If there is a conference that can rival the Pac 10 in inconsistency this year it is the ACC. It has been close to impossible to figure out the ACC this year. Outside of Georgia Tech there are 8 teams with 2-4 losses on the year which says that the teams have been beating up on each other much like the SEC does.
November 19, 2009
Thursday Night NFL Football Dolphins vs Panthers - Not the best of matchups for this Thursday Night affair, but nothing could be worse than watching the Cleveland Browns this past Monday, right? This matchup features two teams that are at least still alive in the playoff hunt, with both teams weight in at 4-5 with both the Dolphins and the Panthers having won 2 of their last 3 games.
November 16, 2009
Monday Night Madness - Wow. Now isn't this a gem of a game. The Browns. Does it get any worse? Sure, you can make a case for going against the public. Playing against the obvious. Etc.etc. But quite frankly, there hasn't been a team worse than the Browns in the NFL for quite some time.
November 14, 2009
Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto - Is an upset looming? - Manny Pacquiao is the people’s champion. He is arguably the most popular fighter in the United States and a living and breathing god in the Philippines. His recent victories over Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton have cemented his legacy in the minds of many.
Iowa vs Ohio State - Big 10 Title on Line - Ohio State was able to get past their first obstacle standing in their way for another Big 10 title beating Penn State 24-7. Now they have one more test to pass against Iowa this Saturday in The Horseshoe.
Stanford vs USC - It was only a matter of time before USC was forced to go through a rebuilding year. Coach Pete Carroll has taken this USC team to a different level since he has been the Head Coach. Carroll is 95-17 in his tenure at USC including 6 BCS bowl victories and one undisputed BCS National Title.
Utah vs TCU - The TCU Horned Frogs are well on their way to becoming the BCS Buster of the 2009-2010 football season. TCU is 9-0 on the year and looks like this game against Utah is their last real challenge left between them and a berth in a BCS bowl game, and it is kind of fitting that their last real test is the same team that played the BCS Buster role last year with Utah.
Notre Dame vs Pitt - It seemed like the stars were aligned perfectly this year for this Notre Dame football team. They looked to have a very good football team and their schedule was very favorable, so people started to wonder if this was the year that Notre Dame began to get back to national prominence.
November 13, 2009
West Virginia vs Cinci - The Cincinnati Bearcats are coming into this game against West Virginia off their closest win of the year. Cincinnati had to hold on for dear life in the 4th quarter to escape with a 47-45 victory over Connecticut. Up until that game Cincinnati had looked nearly unbeatable, but that game exposed some real concerns with their defense.
November 12, 2009
South Florida vs Rutgers Thursday Night ESPN - Both South Florida and Rutgers have had their ups and downs so far this season, but both have bounced back strong. South Florida has had to deal with their Senior QB Matt Grothe going down for the season with an injury, but luckily for the Bulls Freshman QB B.J. Daniels has been able to pick up where Grothe left off.
November 11, 2009
Odds on Colts and Saints Going Undefeated? - As we head into Week 10 of the 2009 NFL regular season, what was a murmur a few weeks ago, is now picking up heat: is there a perfect season brewing? Nine weeks down and two teams still have a chance at finishing the regular season 16-0 and maybe even 19-0 through the playoffs.

2009 Breeders Cup at Santa Anita - Predictions and Analysis - All the best races are on Saturday. Those races include the Mile, Turf, and Classic just to name a few. If you are mildly interested in horse racing then the Breeders Cup World Championships are two days of racing that don’t want to miss out on. There will be endless wagering opportunities. Let’s take a glance at some of the races on Saturday.
Nicolay Valuev vs David Haye WBA Heavyweight Championship - The ‘monster’ stands 7 feet tall (yes - 7 feet) the ‘model’ 6’3. Nicolay Valuev AKA the monster sports a gaudy record of 5o victories and 1 loss. The names of his opponents are hardly household…Taras Bidenko, George Linberger, Dicky Ryan and Otis Tisdale who I’m sure played professional basketball. Wait, that’s another Tisdale.
Alabama Hosts LSU in SEC Game of the Week - This grudge match between Alabama and LSU should be the game that decides who will represent the Western Division in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. In the Crimson and White corner we have the undefeated champion the Alabama Crimson Tide at 8-0 on the year and 5-0 in the SEC.
Michael Floyd Returns as Notre Dame Hosts Navy - This Notre Dame team had plenty of hype surrounding it coming into the season. They had a very good team coming back led by their QB Jimmy Clausen, and it was put up or shut up time for their Coach Charlie Weis. They had a very favorable schedule, so the Notre Dame faithful had dreams of finding themselves in the BCS Title game.
South Carolina at Arkansas - This Arkansas football team can look so good at times, but also can look so bad at times. The Razorbacks are 4-4 on the year, but the good news is they are through the toughest part of their schedule. In a 6 game stretch Arkansas played Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss without a bye week.
Oregon State vs Cal - This California football team has really bounced back from back to back losses to Oregon and USC. Since those losses the Bears are 3-0 with wins over UCLA, Washington State, and Arizona State. They have found a way to get their star RB Jahvid Best back involved in this offense, and it has made a big difference.
Penn State Hosts Ohio State in Big 10 Battle - Before the season started everyone had this game circled on the schedule as the game that would decide the Big 10 champion. Unfortunately for both teams things haven’t gone according to plan this year.
Filly Friday at the Breeders Cup - The Breeders Cup World Championships are horse racing’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, World Series, Super Bowl, and countless other year end championships. Most of the races will decide the champion horse for that division. There is plenty excitement this year with the entry of Zenyatta in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and the presence of the Europeans after they cleaned house last year.
November 4, 2009
Virginia Tech Seeks Revenge Thursday Night as East Carolina - Virginia Tech has gone from the penthouse to the outhouse with their fans in just two weeks. The Hokies were one of the hottest team in the country a few weeks ago, and it looked like they were a serious dark horse for the BCS Title game, but then they dropped their last two games to Georgia Tech and North Carolina, and they find themselves with 3 losses on the year and 4th in the ACC Coastal Division.
November 2, 2009
Falcons at Saints Monday Night Football - One way to look at the Saints as 12 point favorites tonight over the Falcons is to say hey, no one has come closer than 12 points to the Saints all year, so why not. No question the Saints are on everyone's short list as best in the NFC to this point.

Week 8 NFL Totals Power Ratings - Here are the week 8 totals power ratings from Jamie Tursini. You can use these to aid in your own totals handicapping for the NFL.
Black Cat NFL Picks - Our NFL Super Hero is now two games above .500 going into the halfway point of the NFL season. He's had three consecutive 58% seasons here on the site and many more winning seasons in general. If he stays true to form, the 2nd half should be a dandy. Check em out.
October 31, 2009
USC at Oregon - College Football Game of the Week - This is the Pac 10 matchup that the whole country has been waiting to see. Coach Pete Carroll brings his men of Troy to Autzen Stadium to take on Coach Chip Kelly’s Oregon Ducks. Few teams have been hotter than the Ducks in the last several weeks.
Tennessee Hosts South Carolina - Will the real Tennessee Volunteers please stand up? This Tennessee team can look so good at times like against Alabama, and then they can look so bad at times like against Auburn. Tennessee is 3-4 on the year, but when they play their game they are much better than their record indicates.
Cal vs Arizona State - This California Bears football team has been a very difficult team to figure out. With their star RB Jahvid Best coming back this Cal football team had a lot of pre season hype surrounding them.
Texas at Oklahoma State - Ever since Oklahoma was chosen over Texas last year for the BCS Title game it’s been National Title or bust for the Longhorns. They have taken down every challenger so far, and this game against Oklahoma State looks like the last real test standing in the Longhorns way until the Big 12 Title game
October 30, 2009
West Virginia vs South Florida - Friday Night Football - West Virginia hasn’t missed a beat since former Coach Rich Rodriguez left for Michigan. Coach Bill Stewart has stepped in and done a great job. He has his Mountaineers contending for another Big East Title with a 6-1 record with their only loss coming against Auburn in a game where they turned the ball over 6 times.
October 29, 2009
North Carolina vs Virginia Tech Thursday Night ESPN - Virginia Tech was one of the hottest teams in the country since their opening game loss to Alabama. RB Ryan Williams had been tearing it up on the ground, and QB Tyrod Taylor had been showing real improvement with the passing game, but then they took on Coach Paul Johnson and his triple option rushing attack.
October 27, 2009
World Series Betting Preview - The Phillies and the Yankees will square off in the world series and oddsmakers have made the Yankees a more than 2-1 favorite to win it all. In game one, CC Sabathia will face Cliff Lee with Sabathia and the Yanks a favorite of -165. For those of you not familiar with baseball betting, that means you lay $165 to win $100.
October 26, 2009
Monday Night Football - Eagles vs Redskins - It's extremely difficult to make a case for the Washington Redskins in any game at this point. Actually, it's difficult to make a case for the Redskins being in the NFL at this point, but that's another story.

Week 7 NFL Totals Power Ratings - A look at this weeks NFL Totals ratings courtesy Jamie Tursini
NFL Key Releases - In off a debut week in the NFL if 2-1 and a College Football Saturday of 8-4, we have 4 NFL Key Releases for Sunday.
The Black Cat - Has Mr September turned into Mr October? Tune in to see!
October 24, 2009
Undefeated Alabama Hosts Tennessee - Coach Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide finds itself #1 in the most recent AP Poll after previous #1 Florida struggled against unranked Arkansas. One of the main reasons why Alabama finds itself with that spot is their defense. This defense has been nothing short of great this whole season.
Texas Favored by 13 Over Missouri - This Texas Longhorn team was able to get past their biggest test of the year with a 16-13 victory in the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma. With the way the Longhorns schedule stacks up it looks like they have a clear shot right to the BCS title game, but Coach Mack Brown has got to keep his team’s mind on the task at hand.
BYU Seeks Revenge Against TCU - Last year it was TCU who knocked BYU off their BCS Buster path giving them their first loss of the season. One year later the roles are reversed and its TCU who is undefeated and BYU who is looking to play BCS spoiler. TCU comes into this showdown 6-0 and ranked #8 in the country.
Oddsmakers Favor USC by 21 Over Oregon State - This Oregon State Beaver football team has been a thorn in the side of the USC Trojans for the last several years. In 2 of the last 3 years the Beavers took down a previously undefeated USC, and cost them a date in the BCS title game. USC has just not been able to get over the hump and get through their regular season without a loss.
Oregon Looks to Avoid Upset vs Washington - Oregon didn’t exactly start this year off according to plan. They not only lost their opening game to Boise State, but their starting RB LeGarrette Blount punched a Boise State player, and then tried to fight people in the crowd who were giving him a hard time. This brought a lot of negative publicity towards the Oregon Ducks, and they really needed to turn things around quickly.
Boise State vs Hawaii Betting Line and Prediction - The Boise State Broncos opened up at 4th in the BCS Rankings and should be well on their way to a BCS Bowl provided they avoid a major slip up. That slip could come against the high octane offense of the Hawaii Warriors.
Auburn Travels to Death Valley to Take on LSU - After opening the season 5-0 this year it looked like Coach Gene Chizik and Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn were the answers to the Auburn fan’s prayers. After a disappointing season last year that cost Coach Tommy Tubberville his job no one really knew what to expect from this Tiger football team.
Iowa vs Michigan State a Toss Up - This Iowa Hawkeye football team is the poster child of winning ugly. They don’t wow you on the field, but they know how to win and that’s what is most important. They have looked very good at times with wins over Michigan and Wisconsin, but they have also looked very bad at times with close wins over Northern Iowa and Arkansas State.
UCONN Playing With Heavy Hearts - The UCONN Huskies will be playing with heavy hearts this Saturday. Just hours after making a huge play in the win over Louisville, and being awarded the game ball, Jasper Howard, aka "Jazz" was stabbed and killed in a fight on campus. Players from both UCONN and WVA will wear Howards number on their helmets and their will be a moment of silence before the game.
South Florida vs Pitt Betting Line and Analysis - The South Florida Bulls have come a very long way since the program’s inception. They started this year a perfect 5-0 before running into the bulldozer that is the Cincinnati Bearcats. Led by freshman QB B.J. Daniels, this is a team to be on the lookout for.
October 21, 2009
Florida State vs North Carolina Thursday Night ESPN - Both Florida State and North Carolina had high expectations coming into the year. Florida State’s young talent had a year of experience under their belt, and UNC had slowly been on the improve since Coach Butch Davis took over the football program.
October 19, 2009
Chargers Host Broncos in HUGE AFC West Matchup - Interesting AFC West matchup tonight which might best be described as the underachieving Chargers hosting the overachieving Broncos. Tonight will tell us whether we have a one horse, or a two horse race in the AFC West. The Broncos have been getting done with of all things, defense.

NFL Totals Power Ratings Week 6 - NFL Totals power ratings for week 6 from Jamie Tursini
Don't forget the NFL Key Releases as well as the Black Cat NFL Picks
October 17. 2009
Boxing - Jermain Taylor vs Arthur Abraham - Jermain Taylor possesses all the tools that make a professional fighter – good. He’s blessed with first rate hand speed, a pretty powerful left hook and the ability to box and move. His defense is above average as he showed in the second Kelly Pavlick fight.
Red River Rivalry - Oklahoma vs Texas - The old Cotton Bowl will be alive and kicking come this Saturday when Texas and Oklahoma meet in the Red River Shootout. This game doesn’t have quite the hype it did last year when #1 Oklahoma went up against #5 Texas, but anytime these two storied programs strap up their chin straps it’s a big game.
Notre Dame Looks for HUGE Upset over USC - Notre Dame came into this season with the highest expectations it has had in a long time. You even had people like Lou Holtz picking them to play Florida in the National Title game. Much of that had to do with the weakness of their schedule, but make no mistakes this is a very talented Notre Dame team.
Alabama Looks to Shutdown Spurrier and South Carolina - This Alabama team, especially their defense has been nothing short of amazing for the first half of the schedule. The defense is only allowing 13 points per game, and is the big reason why a lot of people think that Alabama is the best team in the country.
Handicapper RickJ With NFL and NCAA Best Bets Week 6 - Handicapper Rick J weighs in with this weeks NFL and NCAA best bets including his Hilton Contest picks which went 5-0 last week!!
Oklahoma State Favored Over Missouri - Oklahoma State were blindsided by the suspension of their star WR Dez Bryant from the NCAA. There is still a chance that Bryant will be able to play this coming Saturday, but with or without him this Cowboy team is more than capable of winning games.
Virginia Tech 3 Point Road Favs at Georgia Tech - In this matchup between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech we have two of the most potent rushing attacks in college football. Virginia Tech has been one of the hottest teams in the country since their opening loss to Alabama. They have big wins over Nebraska and Miami, and in their last game they dominated a very solid Boston College.
UCLA vs CAL In Make or Break PAC 10 Game - It is a little spooky when you compare both UCLA and California’s opening schedule and results. Both California and UCLA opened their season up exactly the same. Both teams opened up their year 3-0 with a big out of conference victory.
Minnesota vs Penn State Betting Line - Before the season started it looked like the stars had aligned to give Joe Paterno his one last chance at not only a Big 10 Title, but a National Title. They had a very good team coming back, and their schedule was very light. Unfortunately for Joe Pa and his Nittany Lions they just can’t figure out how to beat Iowa.
October 15, 2009
Cincinnati vs Florida Thursday ESPN - There are a lot of questions surrounding both Cincinnati and South Florida coming into this game. South Florida is off to a great 5-0 start, but suffered a tough setback when their veteran QB Matt Grothe suffered a season ending injury in their 3rd game of the season. After Grothe went down hopes of a run at the Big East title was all but lost.
ALCS Betting Trends - Gotta love it. Brisk October Nights. Playoff baseball and the New York Yankees. You either love them or you hate them. But it just doesn't seem like the post season unless they are there. Fortunately, this year they are, which brings plenty of juice to this years ALCS. Plus, dare to dream.....how great would it be to see Joe Torre face his old team in the World Series!
October 13, 2009
Boise State vs Tulsa Wednesday Night ESPN - Boise State takes on Tulsa this week in a game between two teams with something in common the last few years. Specifically, they are two teams that have put up some fantastic records, but have been criticized for playing weak opposition.
October 12, 2009
Jets at Dolphins Monday Night Football - Thus far one thing is for certain. The New York Jets have one of the better defenses in the NFL. Sure, it's still early, but they have faced decent teams as well as perhaps the most prolific offense in the NFL, the Saints, and the defense kept them in that game all the way through.
October 11, 2009
49ers Host Falcons - Redskins Visit Panthers - We take a look a couple of games on the week 5 NFL card with teams going in opposite directions. The 49ers and Falcons are among this years surprises while the Panthers and Skins are among the worst in the NFL. We also take a look at some very simply quick handicapping methods and use these two games as an example.
October 10, 2009
LSU Home Underdogs to Florida - College Football Game of the Week - This is the big matchup of the week in college football. The big question that everyone is waiting to be answered is will Tim Tebow play this Saturday against the #4 ranked LSU Tigers? Urban Meyer hasn’t said a whole lot about it except that Tebow is doing well, but is going to be a game time decision.
Ole Miss Seeks Upset of #3 Alabama - These are the kind of games that Coach Houston Nutt has made a career out of. He always likes the games where everyone is giving him no shot to win. In 2007 he beat #1 LSU in Death Valley in the last game of the year, and LSU went on to win the BCS Championship. In 2008 he upset #1 Florida in the Swamp and Florida also went on to win the BCS Championship.
Ohio State Hosts Wisconsin in Crucial Big 10 Matchup - Ohio State hosts Wisconsin Saturday afternoon in a game that's crucial as far as the Big 10 Standings go as both teams are 2-0 in conference play. Oddsmakers currently have Ohio State as a whopping 16 point favorite. The opening line was -14.5 and bettors couldn't push Ohio State money through the window fast enough moving the number to -16 and even -16.5 in some spots.
Stanford Looks to Stay Unbeaten in PAC-10 - Stanford has been one of the surprises of this college football season. Stanford is 4-1 on the year with their lone loss coming against Wake Forest. Ever since that loss Stanford has looked like a new team with impressive victories over a Washington team who upset USC and an undefeated UCLA team.
BC vs Virginia Tech Trends Analysis and Prediction - Boston College has gotten the best of Virginia Tech the past two years during the regular season, but both years Virginia Tech has gotten the last laugh in the ACC title game. Both teams look poised for a return visit against each other in the ACC Title game, but first both teams are looking for revenge this Saturday.
Georgia at Tennessee - In this matchup we have two SEC East teams who desperately need a win after losing tough games last week. Georgia has been one of those most inconsistent teams in the SEC. One game their offense puts up 500 yards of total offense then the next game they can barely find the end zone
Iowa Hosts Michigan In Prime Time ABC TV Affair - Both Michigan and Iowa are coming into this game off embarrassing performances. Michigan lost to their in state rival Michigan State for the second straight year, and Iowa barely escaped with a 3 point win over Arkansas State. Michigan got out to a hot 4-0 start including a victory over Notre Dame.
Purdue at Minnesota Big 10 Football Matchup - Not much has gone the way that the Purdue Boilermakers envisioned it would go this season. They are 1-4 with their lone win coming against an overmatched Toledo team. To be honest the one bright spot was that Purdue should have beat Notre Dame if it wasn’t for a questionable timeout called.
NCAA and NFL Weekly Betting Trends - Courtesy of SPORTSBETTING.com - A marquee matchup in college football is set for Saturday evening when the No. 1 Florida Gators head to Baton Rouge to play the No. 4 LSU Tigers. Online sportsbooks have the nation’s consensus top team favored by 7.5-points with a Total of 46.
October 8, 2009
Nebraska vs Missouri - Picks - Odds - Analysis - Both Missouri and Nebraska are off to a very good start this season. Nebraska is 3-1 on the year with their lone loss coming to a very good Virginia Tech team on the road. They gave their selves every opportunity to win that ballgame, but gave it up late in the 4th quarter.
October 7, 2009
ALDS and NLDS Betting - Look for Value - The MLB Playoffs are set to begin today with the ALDS and the NLDS getting underway with 6 of the 8 playoff teams in action. The Red Sox and Angels are the only two playoff teams not in action tonight as they wait until Wednesday Night. Sportsbooks have posted odds on all of the series and have also updated their odds to win the World Series on each of the playoff teams. Those odds will be posted below.
October 5, 2009
Brett Favre Seeks Payback - Takes on Packers - There have been a lot of great NFL quarterbacks over the years that have redefined the game and become unforgettable football legends. John Elway was the king of fourth quarter comebacks in his time with the Denver Broncos where he won two Super Bowl titles in a row.
October 4, 2009
Week 4 NFL Rundown - Houston looked like they were on track for a playoff spot a week ago, then with about 2:00 left in the game, a fumble on the 2 yard line gave them a 31-24 loss to Jacksonville. Texan's QB Matt Schaub is solid with 823 YP and 7 TD's. It is Houston's "D" that gave up 62 points over the last 2 games that makes them questionable. I don't think that Oakland QB JaMarcus Russell can take advantage of the situation.
NFL Week 4 Totals Picks - Here are this weeks Totals Ratings from Jamie Tursini. You can use these numbers to help with your over/under NFL Picks. The instructions on how to use these numbers are below. So far this season Jamies's numbers have been right on the money.
