The Broncos host the Chargers Thursday night in an AFC West matchup that still has some juice to it as far as the playoff picture goes. The Broncos have cliNChed at least a Wild Card birth while the Chargers are still mathematically alive as well, but can’t afford a loss. The Broncos are -10.5 point favorites at 5dimes.com with a total of 55.5 while their betting trends show us that the action on the side has been fairly balanced thus far with 56% of the action coming in on the Broncos. Bettors love the over though, with the over pulling in 94% of the wagers.
The Broncos defense is nothing to write home about. It’s going to make the Broncos a risky proposition laying significant points going forward. It’s a defense that is giving up 26 points per Game on average which is always going to leave that back door open when they’re laying points, especially against playoff quality teams. The Broncos obviously win with their Peyton Manning led offense, which seems to be able to pOur it on as needed.
The Chargers are just the opposite really. Their offense simply hasn’t gotten it done on a consistent basis this year. Their offensive yards per points number of 17.2 is poor and when compared to the Broncos offensive number of 11.8, which is #1 in the NFL, that magnifies what should be the differeNCe in this Game.
We’re not crazy about laying double digits in the NFL, especially with a team that has a questionable defense. But the Broncos offense is a scoring MAChine and with them still needing to continue to win to solidify their playoff positioning, the feeling here is that the Broncos and their offense are the way to go here.
