The San Francisco 49ers host Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts Sunday and are currently -10 point favorites at GTBets Sportsbook with a total of 46.5. Both teams come in at 1-1 with the Colts splitting their first two games at home while the 49ers won at home and lost on the road.
Always interesting to check the betting percentages on Colts games. The public had a love affair with the Colts when Manning was there and that love affair picked right up where it left off when Andrew Luck joined the party. 65% of the wagers on this game have come in on the Colts at sportsbook.com with an even larger percentage favoring the over (93%). We highly recommend setting up an account at sportsbook.com so you can view the betting percentages each week. It's an invaluable handicapping tool.
The Colts are lucky to be 1-1. They should have lost to the Raiders at home in week 1. We've been down on the Colts this year. Don't get me wrong, they are a team on the rise and Andrew Luck is here to stay. He's a super star. But, last year was a fluke. As a result, they have been severely over valued and will likely continue to be in many spots this year.
That being said, this doesn't appear to be one of those spots. Any time you can grab an NFL team +10 points, you have to give it a good hard look. We say all the time on these pages, the difference between the best and the worst in the NFL is very slim. On any given day, any team can beat another. With Andrew Luck and his big play ability, I wouldn't want to be sitting on the 49ers -10 and up a couple of TD's late in the game. As the saying goes, the back door is always open with a guy like Luck on the field.
The 49ers are the better team. A legitimate Super Bowl contender. They'll win this game, but we're not ready to lay the -10. Nothing strong here we're going to back the Colts to stay within the number. We'll also buck the public on the total, simply because, nothing is that easy and the public has bet the over like they already know the score. Colts +10 and Under 46.5
