DOVER 400 ODDS - PICKS
6/1/08
This week NASCAR visits the Dover International Speedway where Kyle Busch is favored at odds of 5-1 to win the Best Buy 400. Kyle Busch has been on fire lately with two wins, a 2nd and 3rd place finish in his last four starts. However, at Dover, he has finished no better than 5th (twice) his last four tries. So where else might we look for some value this week? Let's start with Jeff Burton who won here in 2006 and also has a 4th place finish here. He has finished no worse than 12th his last 4 races and is listed at a whopping 25-1 for Sundays race. Worth a shot in our opinion.
Martin Truex won here last year and has a 6th place finish in 2006. He had a 5th place finish a couple of weeks ago and s listed at odds of 20-1 to win this week. Matt Kenseth may also be worth a look. Matt has a 1st and 5th place finish here recently and has finished 6th and 7th his last two times out. He's listed as less of a bargain than our other picks but still a nice price at 10-1 odds.
For a huge long shot score why not give Jamie McMurray a shot. He has a 2nd and 8th place finish here recently and is listed at 100-1 odds to win. Lastly, one of the more obvious choices and the 2nd betting favorite would be Carl Edwards. He is listed at 6-1 odds and rightly so as he has 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes here his last 3 starts. Also worth noting are Johnson, Newman and Stewart, all of which have won here multiple times.
Chevy would be the leading manufacturer in wins at Dover over the last 16 races followed by Dodge, Ford and Pontiac. 50% of the winners in this race have come from the top 10 starting positions and 44% have come from the top 5.
Qualifying is Friday at 3pm est. and can be seen on the Speed channel. The race is Sunday at 1:30 pm est. on FOX.
