Current Indy 500 Odds

Sunday May 29th 2011 will mark the 95th running of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing", The Indy 500. This years race will mark the 100th anniversary of the event. The first Indy 500 was in 1911. The race was suspended during WWI (1917-18) and WWII (1942-45). The 100th running of the event will not occur until 2016.
The Indy 500 is one of the most prestigious motorsport events in the world, in a
class with Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix, though many would argue that the
Indianapolis 500 is in a class by itself.
Here is a look at a few of the other top contenders in this years race followed
by the current updated odds.
Scott Dixon (6/1)
Dixon is from New Zealand and was the 7/2 favorite to win in 2009 after winning
in 2008. He led for the most laps in 2009 (73) and has been putting up some very
fast recent practice times.
Dario Franchitti (4/1)
Franchitti was the 2007 winner. In 2009, he led for the third-most laps (50) and
had a shot at winning if not for a bad pit stop. Franchitti won the race last
year at odds of 4/1.
Ryan Briscoe (8/1)
Briscoe is a big threat from Penske Racing, as is fellow Australian Will Power
(6/1). They’re both world class road racers who are adapting to ovals. Briscoe
finished 15th at Indy in 2009, while Power was 5th.
