UFC 82: " PRIDE OF A
CHAMPION"
UFC 82 takes place on March 1st in Columbus, Ohio and will feature a main
event Middleweight clash between Anderson "The Spider" Silva and Dan "Hollywood"
Henderson. Anderson Silva enters the fight as the hotter fighter on a 6 fight
winning streak while Henderson is coming off a loss back in September and looks
to avoid losing two in a row, something that has only happened once in his
career, back in 2002. Henderson is 22-6 overall while Silva is 20-4.
The Odds favor Anderson Silva.
Sportsbook.com has Silva -150 and the underdog Henderson at +120.
We think the price on Silva is too high. The fight breaks down as dead even
to us. If we're right, then the value is with Henderson. If these two were to
fight 100 times, and each fighter won 50, we would lose money betting on
Anderson Silva at -150 each time. However, winning 50% of the time is good
enough to show a profit with Dan Henderson at the price of +120. Whether
you are betting on a football game, a cockroach race, or an MMA fight, it's all
about obtaining value and winning over the long term, not the short term. Keep

Henderson is dropping down a weight class for this fight. He
plans on winning this one, and then making a few defenses of the title before
moving back up in weight. We expect Henderson's wrestling ability will help set
up his striking here. We expect Henderson to win the take down battle all night
long finding himself in position to wail away at Silva, more often than Silva
will find himself in position to wail away at Henderson. Fairly elementary stuff
here, but that's how we see it going.
