Slim pickin tonight on the college hoops board although we are looking at one Game as a potential play. Don’t forget, Our college hoops selections, also known as the “Oddswiz Plays” are available here. There’s a huge card as always Saturday and we’ve already isolated some solid spots. The Super Bowl won’t be the only money making opportunity this weekend : )
As for tonight, the Game we are looking at but haven’t pulled the trigger yet is Weber State at Montana who face off in a crucial Big Sky Conference matchup. Weber State is hot, having won 5 straight and 7 of their last 8 to grab top spot in the Big Sky standings with an 8-1 Conference record. But they have No Colo and this Montana team nipping at their heels which always ads excitement to Games being played this time of year. Montana is 6-4 in Conference and a loss here to the leader would likely do them in.
Weber has held the upper hand in this series recently having won 6 straight and 7 of the last 8 including a win at home on January 2, 64-56. The two Games that Montana has won since 2006 were by 6 and 4 points, both of those Games at home.
Many feel Montana has underachieved and are in fact the top team in the Big Sky. They sent a message to the rest of the league last week by knocking off one of the hottest teams in the country on the road, No. Colorado, and then knocking off Northern Arizona for good measure.
Weber State is in a tough spot this weekend. They play tonight, and then hop a bus immediately after the Game for a 3.5 hOur trip where they’ll play Montana State on Saturday. It’s their only Friday/Saturday back to back swing all year. It’s a crucial road trip but also a trip where we’re likely to see them flat in one of these two Games. In all likelihood, they’ll be flat Saturday. We look for a focused effort from Weber State tonight in the first Game of this swing against the better of the two teams they’ll face in Montana this weekend.
We’d like to see some money come in on Montana to give us another point or point and a half wiggle room before we play this one. If we get +6 or better we may bite. Otherwise we’ll likely pass and just dig into tomorrows card. When we break this Game down we have it dead even with a predicted final of 66-66. Odds are, this one comes down to the final buzzer. It’s a pass for now, but we’ll lean towards Weber St +5 and will consider playing at +6 or more.
