Boise State Football Preview Predictions and Schedule 2011

Boise State leaves the WAC and joins the Mountain West Conference in 2011. Initially, it looked as thought the days of cup cake Schedules and easy Conference play would be a distant memory. But Utah and BYU have left the MWC and TCU will follow in 2012, paving the way for Boise State to dominate the MWC the way they did the WAC. This year Boise returns 7 starters on both sides of the ball iNCluding QB Kellen Moore who is 38-2 as a starter. They lose the top two receivers in school history as well as a safety that was their leading tackler, but otherwise look good at every position.

You have to give Boise State credit for starting their seasons with a bang. Boise is always criticized for Schedule strength each year when talks of a National Title emerge, but those talks are always reserved for undefeated teams and Boise State certainly doesn’t duck anyone in season openers. In 2009 they opened up against, and beat Oregon 19-8. Last season, they opened up against and beat Virginia Tech. This year, all National Title talk will either begin or end after their September 3rd opener in Atlanta, when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

ONCe they get Georgia out of the way, the rest of the Schedule is there for the taking, but it won’t be a cake walk. They play Nevada, who beat them last year. They play a good Air Force team and a very good San Diego State team and they play a TCU team that may be down several notches this year. Other than Georgia though, their toughest road test is the San Diego State Game. Every other threat comes on the blue field in Boise.

The Georgia Game will obviously set the stage for the 2011 Boise State season. Georgia is in off a very disappointing 6-7 season and a bowl loss to UCF. They’ll be looking to get things started with a big win against Boise. If Boise wins, it will be another year of talking about Boise State and a National Title shot. If they lose, we’ll simply be talking about an MWC title and a major bowl Game. After Georgia, they should run the table.

Let the bickering begin. We’re calling for a win over Georgia and a 12-0 regular season for Boise State and head coach Chris Peterson who is 65-5 in his 5 years at the helm.

Oh and by the way, from a betting standpoint, if you had bet on Boise State each Game they played over the last 10 years you would have won every year but one and would have compiled a record of 76-46 for 62% against the spread. Not too shabby. You could have made your living on Boise State alone.
