Kent State Football Predictions and 2011 Schedule

Kent State brings in new head coach Darrell Hazell who was an assistant at Ohio State, for the 2011 season. Hazell walks into a decent situation to begin his head coaching career as he inherits a team that returns 9 starters on offense and 5 on defense and a team that for the most part, was competitive last season going 5-7 overall and 4-4 in conference.

There’s still a GAp to overcome. Western Michigan spanked them 38-3 and Temple beat them 28-10 but they were otherwise competitive against the rest of the MAC teams they faced. They don’t play Western Michigan this year but they do play Temple to close out the year at the end of November.

It will be a tough start to the 2011 season as they play at Alabama to kick things off and they’ll also have to play at Kansas State in their 3rd Game of the year. Their MAC Schedule is no walk in the park either. The key Games for Kent State will be at Northern Illinois, Miami Ohio at home and at Temple to end the year. Kent should win 6 Games. Whether they win 7 or more will depend entirely on how they do in those 3 key MAC Games.

From a betting standpoint, that Temple Game to end the year could be huge. But also watch out for Miami Ohio on October 15th. They’ll come in looking for a little revenge for last seasons 27-21 loss and they are loaded with returning talent.
