Kentucky Wildcats Football Picks With Preview and 2011 Schedule
The best way to describe the Kentucky Wildcats would be to call them an SEC nuisaNCe. Good enough to compete and good enough to upset just about anyone on any given day but never consistent enough to do any real damage. Over the last 5 years or so this has been a 7 and 8 win team. That all came under the tenure of Rich Brooks who did a fantastic job with the team. Joker Phillips took over last year and the team went 6-7, managing to go to another bowl Game but losing to Pitt.
An example of the iNConsisteNCy would be beating South Carolina last year and losing to eventual national champ Auburn by just a field goal, yet losing to Florida 48-14. That’s typical Kentucky. This year they return 10 defensive starters but that’s to a defense that GAve up on average 28 points per Game. The offense returns 6 and breaks in a new QB in MorGAn Newton (9 career starts). They lose key skill position players at receiver and running back (Randall Cobb), but Joker Phillips is an offensive guy and Kentucky has never had problems on that side of the ball.
There’s no guaranteed wins on their SEC daNCe card. Likely some guaranteed losses though. They play at LSU this year, a team they didn’t have to face a year ago. They’re also on the road at South Carolina and Georgia. Looking at their Schedule, it may very well come down to November 26th, their last Game of the year when they host Tennessee to determine whether this team keeps their bowl streak alive.
From a betting standpoint, we’d look to that last Game of the year when they host the Vols. They have lost 26 in a row to the Vols! Could this be the year they finally break through? Having a bowl Game on the line would obviously iNCrease the magnitude of that Game.
