ACC COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – It is very rare that a season opening Game in early September could decide a conference’s winner. But when Miami and Florida State meet to begin their respective ’06 campaigns on September 4th, the winner could have a leg up on the Conference title after just one Game. Both FSU and the U, however, have some question marks on offense, so never assume that the ACC is just a two horse race. Virginia Tech is due for an off year after losing Marcus Vick early as well as too many defensive starters. Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Boston College are all bowl teams and will look to knock off the top two in charge.

BIG 10 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – As deep as the Big Ten Conference has the potential to be this year, the Conference winner will likely be decided when Ohio State and Michigan meet on October 18 at the Horseshoe. Iowa, Purdue, and Michigan State will all have success in ’06 and compete for upper eschalant bowl Games, but their talent levels are simply inferior to the Buckeyes and Wolverines.

BIG 12 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – The Big XII is home of the defending BSC champion Texas Longhorns, but in ’06 its Red River Shootout counterparts could take the lead. Armed with the best player in the country, Adrian Peterson is healthy and ready to explode as one of the Heisman frontrunners. Texas no longer has Vince Young to rely upon and have a big hole to fill as his replacement, but the rest of the offense is absolutely loaded. OU and UT will 1-2 step their way to first and second place in the conference, but several teams along the way will be formidable tests.

BIG EAST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – Gone are the days when the Miami Hurricanes ruled this conference. They, along with Virginia Tech and Boston College, are now situated in the ACC. Two explosive offenses now will go head-to-head for this conference’s BCS birth. West Virginia, a consensus preseason top five pick, and Louisville will be at the top throughout this year. As far as the other six teams go, well they don’t hold a candle. Teams like Rutgers, Pittsburgh, and Connecticut are respective teams and will do their best to become bowl eligible, but they have no shot to win the Big East in 2006.

Conference USA COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – No frontrunner has stepped up to the plate as of yet, but Four teams separate from the rest of the pack to settle the 2006 C-USA title. UCF and Southern Miss reside in the East division while Tulsa and UTEP are in the West. Talent turnover for UAB and Memphis leave this race among the previous Four, but not much separates them from each other.

MAC COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – The future MAC superstar arm likely to be the next NFL first rounder resides in Akron. Luke Getsy leads the Zips and playing for the Conference title and winning it is a strong possibility. This kid runs the offense to perfection and all five of his offensive line returns to block and create room for Getsy to pick apart defenses. Akron’s defense was second best in the MAC in 2005, but turnover differential plagued this team, finished 90th at -7.

SEC COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – The best and most challenging college football is played in the South Eastern Conference and ’06 will be another exceptional year among the south’s elite programs. Florida, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Tennessee will all be bowl teams and almost anyone of these teams could make a run at the conference’s BCS birth.

SUN BELT Conference COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – Louisiana-Lafayette finished last season winning its last five Games and have the best talent in the Sun Belt. Returning 16 starters along with the most favorable Conference home Schedule, many expect the Ragin’ Cajuns to be at the top of the league. Its biggest issue will be the wide receiving core, lacking needed experience. If the run defense continues to improve, its unit will be difficult to move against.

WAC COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – The poor man’s Pac-10, the WAC is known for highly explosive offenses and porous defensive efforts. Among the conference’s best are Nevada, Boise State, Fresno State, and Hawaii and will all vie for the league’s top spot. The Broncos of Boise State have long dominated the Conference and won at least a share of the title since 2002, but after Nevada rose up and grabbed that shared piece, a new titleholder could reign in ’06.

PAC 10 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW – If there was ever a chance to surpass a vulnerable Southern Cal team, 2006 is the year. No more Reggie Bush. No more Matt Leinart. No more Conference dominance? After the loss of its back-to-back Heisman winners and 12 position starters, USC and Pete Carroll will have their work cut out for them if they want to be the first Pac-10 team to win at least a share of five consecutive Pac-10 titles.
