ODDS – PREDICTIONS – 4/12/08
This week NASCAR heads West for it’s first Prime Time affair Saturday Night in Phoenix. Last years race belonged to Jimmie Johnson who also owns a 2nd place and 4th place finish here in his last 3 races at the track.
The race would seem to be wide open. Other drivers with success here are Kevin Harvick who won twice in a row in 2006. Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth each own a pair of 3rd place finishes in their last 4 tries in Phoneix. Jeff Gordon has a win here recently and Greg Biffle was 2nd last year. Over the last several years Jeff Burton and Dale Earnhardt Jr each have a couple of wins.
Lastly, roughy 50% of the winners here come from the top 10 starting positions, which, again, would seem to leave the the race wide open for anyone to take it which always gives us some nice underdog value.
Interesting tidbit – So far this year, no Hendrick Motorsports driver has won. Are they due? If so, take a good look at Jimmie Johnson, Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon and, well, even Casey Mears.

Happy HOur – Friday, 8pm/et, SPEED
