Betting on the Oscars

2/27/11

Betting on the Oscars can be both fun and profitable. Big scores have been made in the past by those who have really done their homework. Betting on the Oscars is slowly becoming like a mini Super Bowl occasion. People have Oscar parties, office pools, etc. etc. Watching movies is something we all do. We all also tend to have strong opinions about which movies are good and which aren’t. Add in a little side action and Oscar night really becomes a night to look forward to.

Now, like most years, some of the movies that are up for best picture, many of us have never heard of. For me personally, the two movies that catch my attention are True Grit and 127 hOurs. Were I to wager on either of those and win, I’d be handsomely rewarded as True Grit is 25/1 and 127 HOurs is 30/1. The Heavy favorite to take home Best Picture is The Kings Speech. To collect there you would have to lay 10/1 odds. In other words, you’d risk $10 to win $1.

Here are the Best Picture Odds from the Largest Sportsbook in the World, 5dimes.com
