Knicks
vs.
Pacers
Game 3
Preview – Analysis
5/11/13
Heading into the Knicks vs. Pacers best of 7 NBA playoff series, we felt we were looking at a 7 Game series. What we didn’t anticipate, was the Pacers winning the first Game in New York. We felt that the home teams would hold serve setting up a dramatic Game 7 in New York to decide the series.
We still like the chances of this series going 7 Games. However, in order for that to happen now, the Knicks must grab a Game in Indiana and it had better be one of the next two as the last thing the Knicks want is to be facing elimination heading back to New York for Game 5 and then, Game 6 back in Indiana if they are able to win Game 5 in New York.
The Pacers are -4 point favorites over the Knicks in Game 3 at 5 Dimes Sportsbook with total of 184. In two trips to Indiana this year, the Knicks were 0-2 losing 81-76 in January and 125-91 in February. Last time out, in Game 2 in New York, the two teams were neck and neck as you might expect right through the 3rd quarter until the unexpected happened. The Knicks went on an incredible 30-2 run to turn a close Game into a blowout.
One angle you can generally count on in the NBA is for a team to bounce back from a horrendous effort or collapse. In this case, Indiana played a tight Game for most of 3 quarters. It’s that last quarter and change that the Pacers will be looking to bounce back from. You can be sure that the collapse is still fresh in their minds and that every player on the Pacers is chompin at the bit to get back out there and redeem themselves. With that in mind, it’s worth taking a close look at the Pacers in both the 1st quarter and the 1st half of Game 3.
It’s also worth taking a look at the Knicks in either Game 3 or 4. They’re going to have to grab one of these two Games if this is going to end up being a 7 Game series as we predict. We’ll likely pass Game 3 and wait and see how it plays out. If the Knicks drop Game 3 we may look to back them in Game 4.
You still have time to get Our NBA/NHL playoff plays. The NBA plays are 16-12 overall and we’re looking to build on that. We got off to a slow start in the NHL by losing some overtime Games but we’ve made a bit of a comeback there to bring that record to 5-6 and -$110 based on $100 wagers.
