NFL Draft Odds and Props – 2009

Thats not the question being asked in Detroit this week as we approach the 2009 NFL Draft.
The 0-16 Lions are on the clock .tick tock ..
When you go through a season without winning a single Game, of course, you have some holes to fill.
As we write this, the Lions brass and reps for QB Matthew Stafford are said to be actively discussing a deal that would make the Georgia pivot the first-pick overall.
Stafford, as a result, is listed as a prohibitive -2000 at online sportsbooks to be the top selection overall on Saturday.
But as of early Friday morning, a deal had not been struck, leaving the door open for others to be No. 1 overall 5dimes.com has Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry is a long shot at +1500, Virginia OT Eugene Moore is listed at +1000 and Baylor O-lineman Jason Smith is a fave at +400.
ACCording to NFL.com, the Lions are also prepping contingeNCy plans in case a deal cant be struck with Stafford and Smith and Curry are said to be very viable alternate options.
Looking at the odds for the second pick overall (owned by St. Louis), Curry (+250), Monroe (+300) and odds-on Smith (-250) are listed again, along with Texas DE Brian Orakpo, who is listed at +2000, and an intriguing long shot WR.
Prior to mid-February, many were projecting Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree to be a possible first-overall selection but Crabtree suffered a fracture to his left foot and subsequently had surgery.
Despite missing pre-draft workouts, he is still expected to be selected high, with some projecting him going between two and five; he is listed at +2500 to be the second player taken.
There is also a separate Michael Crabtree Draft Position prop with the ninth spot overall, the long shot position at +2000, with fifth the odds-on position, paying out at +200 and Fourth overall and below listed at +350. Bettors have been paying attention to the Crabtree props, as he is getting decent action. Most bettors see him going #5 overall (at +200).
The University of Southern California is known for being an NFL player factory and two of its products are expected go sometime in the first round.
Based on the prop odds, Trojan QB Mark SaNChez is most likely to go seventh overall or below (-200) or as the 10th pick in the first-round (+350) while LB Rey MaualuGA is most likely to be selected 16th overall (+175) or 21st or higher (+200).
Despite being The Sporting News top-rated RB, Ohio State Buckeye Chris Beanie Wells is expected to be taken in the middle of the first round, 16th or higher to be exact (-400).
Originally touted as a top WR prospect, Floridas Percy Harvin has seen his stock nosedive as he failed a scouting combine drug test, testing positive for marijuana.
Harvin might benefit from his error in judgement though as he might be selected lower by an established team.
The prop betting odds say that he is likely to be a very late first-rounder or second-rounder (30th or higher at +100).
